Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect

Posted by clownscrytoo @clownscrytoo, Oct 22, 2016

Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.
hugz,

Well, so much for anything stronger than OTC's. Guess I need to find the stalwart side of me. Get more exercise to strengthen my muscles. Guess I did not look or sound pathetic enough. It matters not. Rather bummed, but it is what it is.

@lioness, Ask and ye shall receive! jk, but this article; http://time.com/5159879/is-an-anti-aging-pill-on-the-horizon/, discusses the development of a drug that would make our cells act and feel at least 20 years younger. I know that most people who have made it 70 or 80 years on this planet typically say they have no interest in living forever, but the caveat is usually spending that extra time in the physical condition they are currently in. If able to have a much higher quality of life, physically, I think many would be excited at that prospect. However, as a Christian, I believe that my "quality of life" will be beyond my most fantastic imaginings, that I am not sure I would change my answer.

I am currently at Mayo with a sick child but can relate to you all. taking a moment to rest but I do not medicate with any major fibro meds. LDN has proven helpful. I am being treated by an Integrated MD.

Is this a general practitioner or a pain specialist? I know there are almost no GP's who will write an opioid script, but pain management docs, for the time being, will still prescribe opiates for pain that does not respond to anything less. Pancreatic pain acts a bit different than back or joint pain and there is nothing that truly is designed for organ pain. I have had something similar to an epidural in the nerve center nearest the organ, but without any noticeable results. Have you thought about the nerve stimulators that a number of members here have spoken highly of; I would not know anything about their results. Take as much care of yourself as is possible, Gary

The last few days has been so hard on me. Will I have to out up with this forever? I asked the doctor for a stronger pain med and she did nothing. I take Tramadal The only way that helps is if I take it all day long. I slept almost all day today. Off and On. I asked God to please heal me
