Is there a Mayo number to call for my wife(has Parkinson’s) to participate in a research study for stem cell therapy?

Did you receive my reply regarding my wife’s PD onset?

@jameswright
No, I'm sorry but I don't see that reply about your wife's onset with PD. If you could post that again, I'd appreciate it.

It involves alot: he just had a scan looking at ldopa in the brain, upcoming could be spinal tap, blood tests, and a skin punch. A participant can opt out at any time, and many medical centers are involved. This study started 12 years ago I believe. All costs are covered for the participant. Person will be followed for 5 years at least I think. My husband is participating just to aid science. The letters PPMI may be meaningful.

Thanks for the additional information, @tsch. I'll have to look this up and see what I can find.

My wife was first diagnosed in Dec 21 with early stage PD. Feb 24/22, she was mistakenly given the contraindicated drug metapropchlomide to treat her nausea, while doing tests in hospital here in BC.
She quickly(within minutes) crashed, resulting in loss of mobility, speech and swallowing. Then dual diagnosed with prescription drug induced Parkinsonism with underlying PD(now stage 5). To this date, speeech, mobility swallowing and pain has not improved with current medications and physio. Psibicylin has improved her pain somewhat. We are seeking an opportunity to be part of a stem cell research program as she remains, emotionally and physically strong and determined.

Hello @tsch

Thanks for adding to this discussion about clinical trials and studies. If you are comfortable doing so, would you please share the type of study your husband is involved in? Does it involve new medications or treatments?

There is also a:

You could even contact known Medical Institutions, ie. Cleveland, Mayo, and inquire if certain departments are interested, funding is everything. (Or contact drug producers (manufacturers) on what they are working on).

I also participated in that one too but dropped out after awhile. Did he get a DATScan and spinal tap yet?

He had spinal tap and skin punch but was not told results. He had some kind of scan, not sure of DAT type. He does not have PD as far as we know, though he has some precurser symptoms. He is a five year participant.
