How do I stop worrying?
Will start of by saying that I suffer immensely with health anxiety and think any thing that happens to me is always the worst possible thing, however for the last few weeks I have been dealing with on and off chest pain and weird like palpitations randomly. I have been to the ER a couple days ago and had a ECG which was normal and had a blood test which was also normal and the doctor said my heart is working fine so why can't I stop worrying that something bad is going to happen to me

Those of us that tend to worry about our health issues are not alone. I found this recent Mayo video that might help some of us deal with the challenge of worrying about our health condition.

Hello. 60 yrs. old Female. 3 stents. No heart attacks, or angina, but yes anxiety. I have an Evaluation scheduled for a heart transplant the beginning of the year. EF finally staying around 51,blood pressure is spot on I'm sure it's due to all the medications I'm on. Diabetes is a little wonky but I am working on it. Speaking with a therapist to help with nerves and on medications well. Just feeling sad.
@shauna3 I can certainly understand your anxiety. I, too, experience anxiety over medical issues that I face. I do my best to keep the faith and trust God for the outcomes. I pray that your transplant evaluation goes well and that you can be listed and transplanted. Be encouraged, as all of us here on Connect care about you and are pulling for you. On Connect you are surrounded by a community of love. 💕
The video says a great deal about the Mayo Clinic recognition of this very critical issue. So appreciative of your sending this link. Unfortunate per the what seems like too many health care organizations that don't exhibit the same or similar perspective or show these compassions. The term I have been hearing lately from other patients is too many medical providers working as if they are on assembly lines ..
I was fortunate to attend the Care that Fits 2024 meeting at Mayo Clinic Rochester as a patient and was happy to see all of the doctors and researchers involved in patient centered care. I'm sure it is a process where doctors evolve one at a time as they learn from a doctor with experience mentoring them in a more patient centered care. Here's more information about the movement - https://innovationexchange.mayoclinic.org/shared-decision-making-and-the-patient-revolution-restoring-the-best-of-patient-care-with-mayo-clinics-dr-victor-montori/.
They also have a website - https://www.patientrevolution.org/
Thanks for the fast reply ... I will check these links out later today.
There is a movement by health care providers and patients to make changes to the current system

Just checked out the website and thank you for that. Will pursue this further. I believe Dr. Montori may have been a key speaker at a key community event in Las Vegas. I'm not from Las Vegas nor did I attend but am in the field across the US and Canada that hosted that event. If correct -- small world!
Looks the first thing the sponsor wants is for one to buy his book - could have it as a pdf, or chapter by chapter as html - on the site. So, must not be quite so revolutionary.
Didn't get any further than the evangelical part.
Hmmm?
