Sleep Apnea and adjusting to a CPAP machine: Tips?

Posted by vickiw @vickiw, Sep 24, 2016

I'm confused on what to do on CPAP. I hate it and am trying to find a dentist that will take my insurance for a dental device. What would happen if I stop using my CPAP while I'm waiting for one?

I'm getting fitted for a CPAP device on Monday. Sorry to read you hate it. How long did you try the device? I've heard it takes a while to get used to.

I HAVE BEEN USING MY CPAP FOR 13 YEARS AND IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO ME. I USE A SWIFT FX for HER NASSAL PILLOWS SYSTEM AND IS VERY COMFORTABLE, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY IT. MUCH LUCK, FLOR

I have used a CPAP for over three years and I love it. It may take some getting used to but it helps me breathe so much better. I think it is my best friend. I know it will get me breathing again when I stop in the night. I think you need to give it a chance. It is a life support to me. Hope you keep trying until you find something you feel more comfortable with.

Hello,
So the dental device does not eliminate the Cpap therapy or are you choosing to use both?
Thank you in advance for your answer.

YES I USE BOTH AND SLEEP LIKE A BABAY FOR 8 HOURS. I REALIZED THAT I NEED TO USE MY CPAP IF NOT I COULD DIE. SO I MADE MYSELF CONCIOUS OF THAT AND USE IT.

I THINK THAT YOU NEED TO TELL YOURSELF THAT IT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A GOOD SLEEP AND FEEL RESTED DURING THE DAY. MY HUSBAND WANTS ONE BECAUSE HE SAYS THAT AS SOON I PUT MY MASK I GO TO SLEEP. I RELLY WOULD LIKE TO HELP YOU USE IT .

I was introduced to C-PAP 10 years ago. I got the best sleep in years. I knew little of sleep apnea, but experienced severe symptoms. I couldn't drive more than an hour before being forced to pull over and get some rest. I wouldn't just catch 20 winks...I'd sleep an hour or more and then drive for a little and repeat. C-PAP gave me back that deep sleep you need to get through the day.

When I lost a great deal of weight I found I didn't need C-PAP. Sadly I gained back some of that weight and am back on C-PAP. I bring it on road trips. I hope to get my weight down again and end my dependence on C-PAP. In the mean time I'm glad to have the help.
