New antidepressant: Has anyone tried Auvelity?

Anyone know the name of new antidepressant, approved by FDA, that's supposed to be available at end of this year?

@maya23, did you end up stopping auvelity due to the feeling wirey? (also, did you feel wirey/same on Wellbutrin?). thank you.

Has anyone had success using Auvelity to treat anxiety? I have MDD, GAD, and I suffer from panic attacks. I was on Zoloft for 25 years, but it stopped working around the time of the pandemic. Since then, I’ve tried nearly every antidepressant and anti-psychotic available, but I’m treatment resistant — mostly because I can’t tolerate the side effects or the meds simply don’t work for me. The only thing that has helped somewhat is Mirtazapine (Remeron), but it only helps somewhat with the depression and doesn’t help with anxiety at all. My psychiatrist has suggested Auvelity; so, I just want to know if it has helped anyone with their anxiety.
Thanks so much!

Was not familiar with Auvelity so had to do some research on it. It's a combination of buproprion (Wellbutrin) and dextromethorphan (cough medication). I am really puzzled how that can be effective in the treatment of anxiety and/or depression!

What does your doctor recommend?

Hi,
Like you, I have been on many different medications for depression and anxiety for over 25 years with some success, but they seemed to stop working. I was prescribed Auvelity last December after a very difficult time getting my insurance to cover it. I finally did and once I started it, I could feel it working after just a few days. I continued on it for a couple months and it was working well, but it made me kind of clumsy and was often dizzy. And if I had a couple drinks it got even worse. I’m in the wine business, so I felt it would be best to stop taking it. At 57 I’m not much of a drinker anymore, but I still need to taste what I sell and even after spitting out the wines, I still got dizzy.

Hi
I guess that I am in the treatment resistant group. 34 years of trial and error. Started hormone replacement therapy (pellets) in 2017 and got my life back for 5 years. We moved and a hormone Dr. here switched me to compounded cream and after 2.5 years I hit bottom ( I left him) and went back on the med cycle just to be able to carry on until my new HRT kicked in-hopefully!
I tried Auvelity a couple of months ago and had to get off it as the anxiety sent me through the roof! The psych prescribed a stimulant-armodafinil 150mg and it's an instant "happy" pill that lasts for a bit over 3 hours then it's a crash. She added on Bupropion SR 100mg but from what I read it will not help with my anxiety. She also added on another 100mg of armodafinil which she told me to take at noon but I just do not want to go through another crash AND insomnia later at nite.
I am thinking of asking her to add Lexapro for the anxiety as she insists that I quit the 1mg of clonazepam-which happens to be the only med which brings me back to peace and sanity. This whole cycle is frustrating especially when I am only able to see my psych thru telemedicine.
Anyone else been there?

Have you taken Wellbutrin before? I was on it years ago, made me crazy. I was mad all the time, mood swings terrible. My husband said, and I quote “I knew you were a b*tch when I married you, now you’re an even bigger one. Get off that stuff”. I stopped taking it and I was back to normal. The doctor gave it to me in part for me to quit smoking. I didn’t know that part. Just watch your side effects.
