I would like to hear from anyone who has had a lung transplant

I would like to hear from anyone who has had a lung transplant. Would you do it again? I know it's a very difficult procedure and I'm not sure if I want to go through with it or not. I haven't signed up for anything yet but will talk to my pulmonologist next week at Mayo. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

I haven't had any testing done so far. I don't think my doctor felt I was ready to look into a transplant yet. I really don't know what to think about my doctor sometimes.

Bless your heart, you must get confused. Perhaps it’s because they are confused. Is your doctor a Pulmonologist? If not you might want to ask your doctors office for a referral to one.
Just a thought.

Yes she's a pulmonologist at Mayo in Rochester. I've only seen one review and it was really bad. I've never seen any other reviews. I guess you can't always trust reviews either.

If you think that the doctor isn't giving you the best care, look for a second opinion. I am not sure if my doctor that I was going to prior to getting the referral was the best for me. I might have been better going to transplant team sooner. My doctor was talking about possibly needing a transplant, having me go for some tests and then waiting until those tests were considered old and I almost had to start all over again. If a doctor doesn't want you to have a second opinion then run. A doctor should want the best for your health and not be so arrogant that they think they know more than anyone else, but research the doctors that you go to.

So I'm curious as to how you research doctors. I just do a search and check reviews. The doctor I'm seeing is involved with clinical trials and her expertise is in ILD and lung diseases. When they set up the appointment from the referral they picked the doctor I would see. I'd like to know how many patients she has. I wish more people would take time to do reviews. I need to decide if I want a second opinion. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

That is how I do my research is through the internet like you said see what their experience is, if they have an expertise, and what their reviews are. I don't bother looking at the good reviews, but try to look at the bad reviews. I also look to see if there is anything filed with the state on a lot of professionals (not just doctors or the place that they practice). Then it depends on how they make you feel. I went to one specialist, who was a professor for the type of medicine I was looking for a doctor in and she was supposed to be the most predominant in the field, but I didn't like her and never went back.

Ok. So how do you check the state? What office or site do you check?
I just talked with the specialty pharmacy and they will send out the Ofev tomorrow. I might wait a week or so to see if I can get a little stronger before I start taking it.

For Arizona, here is the link to check on an doctor:
https://www.azmd.gov/
I am sure there is an equivalent in every state in the country.
I always look up the educational information as well as whether
there are any claims filed against that physician. This is a useful
tool in the bigger picture of researching a doctor.

I had a double lung transplant at Mayo (Rochester) in Sept 2019. Although it is a major surgery, I would definitely do it again. I also began my journey with a Mayo pulmonologist, who then referred me to transplant. Definitely would suggest seeing another pulmonologist you feel comfortable with at Mayo. The two I saw were fantastic! (A man and woman).
Happy to answer any questions you have.

That's good to hear things went well for you. I have a hard time changing doctors. I always feel like I'm offending the doctor I have. I know it's stupid to feel like that. I need to do something about all this. Can you tell me which doctor you saw at Mayo?

I’m not certain if discussion about specific doctors is allowed on this forum. Send me a private message and I’ll reply back.
