Results of Scan After Stent in Place
I am 78 years old. I had a stent placed in my 5.3 cm aortic aneurysm on July 3, 2024. I went back to the doctor on August 19 and had a CT Scan. The vascular surgeon at Johns Hopkins told me my aneurysm has shrunk to 5.0 cm with no leakage. I asked him why do we now care about the size of the aneurysm since the blood flow is now going through the stent. He explained that sometimes after a stent placement aneurysm stay the same or get larger. While I respect the surgeon I still am puzzled; why should I care about the size of the aneurysm if the blood is flowing through the stent and there aren't any leaks?
Thoughts from this group would be appreciated, but very happy I got a good report from the vascular surgeon.

My question is for anyone who's had a dissection (Moonboy). What happened? Did it come on suddenly? Was there pain? What kind? How did anyone know what was wrong with you? You've said you were in surgery within 42 minutes. That seems like a very fast diagnosis. Did you lose consciousness? This may sound like a lot of intrusive questions but all I've found in my research is that a person would have pain in the abdomen or back. How would that indicate an aneurysm if the doctor didn't already know you had one?
