Problems walking after covid
My mother caught covid for the first time in the hospital after surgery a couple of months ago (don’t get me started on how lax hospitals are with covid protocols) and since that time she has problems walking. She either has to use a Walker or wheelchair depending on the day. Her legs will suddenly feel heavy or like “jelly legs” and give out on her. Has anyone else had this reaction. She had the same reaction after the first couple of moderna vaccines but they went away after a day.
Thank you all.

Hello! It was my relative that recovered from LC after 4 years. She had severe POTS symptoms. She had heart issues, dizziness, trouble standing, walking and neck issues. She had to wear a permanent neck brace. She did not do anything special.I guess it was just time for the virus to completely leave her body. I am 2 years in and have severe vagus nerve damage and muscle issues. I can barely walk.It is awful. It gave me hope that she got better though. I am in your same boat unfortunately. Healthy to disabled in a very short amount of time. My whole body was complete attacked.
Ok thanks for this info, any form of hope whether slim or slight is something for me to hold on to. I myself am facing lots of neuropathy issues, vestibular damage and BP fluctuations with severe imbalance, vision problems and dizziness 24/7.
If you don't mind me asking
1. what is her age please?
2. Do you know if she did anything special and/or differently ?
3. Did she do on-going PT all through out her 4 year recovery period ?
A response to @hypofunction Ive had this (balance issues, leg weakness, afternoon, fatigue) for the last year. Initially, I had more severe symptoms in addition that went away after about two years of exercise, vitamins, etc. but then one year ago the Balance issues came back and so did the leg weakness. I’m going back to physical therapy and trying to rest when my body feels tired and not push through like my natural personality wants to do. Learned this from this Support group that when your body is tired it is helpful to rest and not push through, like my natural Type a personality wants to do . Hope this helps you.
Sure! She is in her 30's. She did do PT and she took meds for her heart from POTS that was brought on from covid. She also wore a neck brace full time. Her Primary told her the virus can hide in your body for years and you just have to wait for it to leave. She did not believe him, but it did. It is hard because I am 2 years in and I just want to be back to my old self too.
I feel the same about grieving my old self. I seem to have every symptom out there, have had tests for every symptom, yet I continue to suffer. I had Covid in January of 2022. I also had a horrible reaction to the Moderna booster. I ended up with covid 9 days after the booster:/. I barely recognize myself some days and am in fear of the future. I feel for you and wish you the very best.
Has anyone had issues with leg cramping and nerve pain?
Hello...I'm not sure how old your mother is, but after I had Covid in 2022, I had that heaviness in my legs and then my legs got very painful when walking and at night in bed. Well....I finally got Xrays which revealed I have osteoarthritis in both my hips, which is causing the pain going down my leg/legs. It could be many things though....I wish you luck and you have my prayers. Don't give up....keep going back to your doctor and insist on x-rays and if those don't show anything, insist on a MRI
cnorrander, I have had muscle cramps and alot of nerve pain in my legs after having Covid in late 2022. Was finally diagnosed with hip osteoarthritis, which causes pain and nerve pain in the legs. I tried prescription Meloxicam and Diclofenac, but neither worked for me. But they do work for many people. I take 2400mg of Ibuprofen and 3900mg of Acetaminophen everyday. But can't take that much of both forever. I will probably get total hip replacement surgery. And I pray that it goes well and I can get back to walking, biking and hiking without pain!
I also take an over the counter nerve pain pill daily called Nervive. Magnilife is another brand you should try. Good luck!
Well it appears I may have the same issues, along with cardiac issues from COVID 19 and pneumonia in late 2023. I have terrible pain in my legs and now my gait is unsteady all of a sudden. I found that little bit of info out from my Apple Watch. And I had been saying I was feeling wobbly on occasion. So, I do not know what kind of doctor to go to about this? I already see a Cardiologist for high calcium score, as well as heart palpitations and murmur, and an ortho doc who treats arms and legs. He does not do spine at all. I am in my 70's and have never had so many issues happen "overnight".
