anyone with PVC experience heart racing after eating?
Along with my other episodes I experience. Having been diagnosed with PVC's and hypertension. I', taking Meoprolol, and Losartan. I noticed my heart really races and palpates after eating, along with a slight cough developing.

Your heart rate increases after eating and digesting from what i understand that is normal. However if you have any type of arrhythmia that probably will exacerbate it.
Hi @lori55
I have had PVCs off and on for 35 years and I always noticed it was worse after eating, particularly sugary foods, carbs especially potatoes. Palpitations too. Once I ate a GIANT baked potato in a restaurant and thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest. Now I have had p-afib for over 2 years due to cancer meds and it seems to be triggered by foods also. Every time it starts, I think about my food that day and almost always ate a lot of carbs or the slightest bit of caffeine such as too many bites of chocolate. I'm very caffeine sensitive so I try to avoid it completely, but sometimes a girl just has to stop by See's for a treat! At 64, that's my thrill seeking activity! Gotta live a little now and then! 🙂
Have you been able to find any answers? I have the same problem.
Yes, I think I have noticed the increase in my heart racing after eating a meal. To be honest I have not paid much attention to it, but I think I will start to see if I can find the foods that cause it.
My arrhythmia problems started after cancer meds too. I had no heart issues before my treatment. But, I am in remission now.
Hi @noendinsight @ruthieann @lori55
More recent aha moment. Cheese is triggering my afib. Did research and found aged cheeses contain tyrosine that does that. Tyrosine is also found in dried fruits, soy sauce and lunch meats contain tyrosine. Craisins and teriyaki sauce give me terrible palpitations. The good news is food palpitations are generally harmless just disturbing per Cleveland Clinic. Keep a food diary of what you ate before palpitations so you can avoid those foods. Best of luck.
That's interesting because whenever I eat a sandwich with deli turkey my anxiety and palpitations go off bad. It makes sense now. Thank you. That's one dot I can connect. I'm still searching though because sometimes I will only take one or two bites of dinner and that will set it off and it can be any kind of food.
Maybe you’re just super sensitive to foods. I am. Consider that the palpitations you feel may make you think it’s due to anxiety or maybe you feel anxious simply because being aware of your heartbeat is unsettling. I’ve had trouble with palpitations and PVCs off and on for 40 years and always received good cardiac reports and was told both were harmless. My 4 years of sporadic afib is another story but again that started the same week as cancer meds. If you need to get your heart checked out for peace of mind then do so. Peace of mind is highly underrated. 😊
Yeah it's possible. I ordered a food sensitivity test, I'm waiting for it to come in. I've dealt with pvcs for a while myself just lately they feel worse. I have had my heart checked out and the cardiologist isn't concerned about any of the findings.
How is the food sensitivity test done? a blood test or...? I am sensitive to many foods. They cause my skin to itch horrible. Many nights it takes me two hours or more until they subside and I can sleep. Without a formal test, cheese is the worst for me.
It's a hair follicle test. You order the kit and register it on an app. Then you mail in a couple of hair strands and they do their testing on it. Then they send you the results via the app.
