Anyone diagnosed with PMR after the Pfizer vaccine?

Posted by mellee @mellee, Feb 28, 2023

I received the Pfizer covid vaccine and had horrible joint pain 8/10 as a side effect. I reported it online. 7 months later I developed horrific joint pain in my shoulders, hips and knees(same pain after the vaccine, but worse). I was ultimately diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica. I wish there was a site to go to and report these things.
I am only 57 and was a runner most of my life up to the age of 51, so I am not in horrible shape for my age. The pain from that PMR was very disabling. I am now on Hydroxychloroquine 200 mg BID and Prednisone 10 mg a day. Not happy about having to take more medications.

I am assuming you are much younger than I am. Do you know if there are any university studies not CDC-funded looking at COVID Vaccine and PMR! What keeps me going is staying optimistic that the PMR will dissipate or become more manageable. It appears the HealthCare industry does not want to talk about this issue. I hope you continue to improve. I would love to run again one day.

No, but had Covid on February 28th, 2020 and was very sick for 2 months which brought me to almost May, 2020. By June I was having PMR symptoms and they increased overtime. 3 1/2 years later finally diagnosed. By the way, the Covid Vaccine I had in August, 2020 made me extremely sick like I had Covid all over again.

My symptoms didn't develop right away, but I still think the shots had something to do with it. My pharmacist said I should get the shingles vaccine and the RSV vaccine now that I am taking methotrexate. I just read this morning not to get the RSV vaccine because they don't know enough about it. It sure is frustrating dealing with this painful disease.

I developed PMR as a result of the Shingrix vaccine - first dose. I will never take another ! I was incredibly healthy prior to receiving it. I was a health and wellness coach, fitness instructor and personal trainer. So - as you can imagine, I was quite healthy and fit. I was in agony after Shingrix and it continued to worsen. It ruined my life. I have been unable to work the past three years and unable to participate in any sports or activities I enjoy doing. 😫

After four Moderna Covid vaccine shots over a three year period, my PMR symptoms began in December last year. I didn’t get properly diagnosed until February 6 of this year. Excruciating pain because my prednisone dose is still in its initial “ figuring it out” stage. I may be the only one who thinks my PMR was caused by Moderna Covid vaccines, but I was the poster child of health before all this mess began.

You are not wrong!!! A dear teacher friend of mine - age 75 now was the most healthy human I have ever met. She got PMR after the Moderna vaccine and was in horrible pain. Her doctor told her he felt the vaccine was responsible. She is ok now but was pretty bad off for around a year! Irene5

Oh my. I suspected that my sudden onset of PMR was due to the Vax. I was active(very), walking 3-4 miles each morning, working out 2x week, healthy diet, no processed foods etc., and literally woke up one morning and boom. Inexplicable.
