Anyone had experience with OsteoStrong, who is not a franchisee?

Has anyone had experience with OsteoStrong? It suggests you will get a large increase in bone density while using their facility 10 minutes per WEEK. Somewhat pricey at $99 and up per month, but am curious if anyone who is NOT a franchisee, has experienced this program?

FYI I have been on a low-inflammation diet for the entire three years, including low to no sugar, no starchy foods, no gluten, no dairy. No sugar for the past 5 months or so.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and she called my results "extremely rare." Reflecting on this, I believe my diet had a lot to do with my progress.

Hi @laurenann when you say you have had no sugar for the past 5 months - does that include not eating fruit and carbohydrates? I have done short periods where I consumed no sugar other than sugar that occurred naturally in vegetables- like sweet potatoes. I always feel so good on a sugar free diet - but it is hard for me to maintain. But you have given me the motivation to get back on the sugar free lifestyle. 🙏

Just curious - your friends who did this program for a year and noticed improvement from osteoporosis to almost out of osteopenia - was this verified by a dexa scan?

I am very interested in this program but would have to drive over an hour to access, so trying to find out as much as I can.

I was osteopenic and was maintaining at each DEXA so I tried Osteostrong for 18 months hoping to improve. I went into osteoporosis category after going for 18 months so it did no good for me. I think it’s a waste of money.

I attended an OsteoStrong program weekly for several months in Fort Lauderdale FL with positive results and plan to restart the program later this year (am currently in NYC area for several months).
I showed the brochure to my Rheumatologist who commented that one of the machines that they use at OsteoStrong is used on the Space Station for maintaining bone density.
I would recommend it.

did he happen to mention WHICH machine was on the Space Station?

I looked it up and the answer I got was basically: "While there isn’t an ACTUAL OsteoStrong machine on the ISS, the concept of using specialized machines to maintain bone density aligns with the challenges faced by astronauts in space. These innovative approaches help mitigate the effects of microgravity on bone health. 🚀🦴"

My thought is that your medical person knows that they have machines on the space station that are used to prevent bone loss while in zero gravity and maybe he just assumed it was an actual OSTEOSTRONG machine. I'm CERTAIN that if NASA chose any ONE of the Osteostrong devices to put on space stations for the explicit purpose of increasing or preventing bone density in astronauts, the OSTEOSTRONG ORGANIZATION as well as each of their franchises would be SCREAMING JOYFULLY ON ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS that amazing news. I've never seen mention of that on the OFFICIAL OSTESTRONG website, nor on Facebook, Instagram or in my local franchise. No emails, no special MEMBERS ONLY ZOOM events... nothing. And trust me I WISH that were true. NOT that I don't believe it would work in zero gravity - I just wish they would do it so that Osteostrong would be fully validated with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's endorsement!

If you are looking for a mechanical approach to building bone quality, improving circulation, supporting muscle stregnth and improving posture - look into the Marodyne LiV Vibration platform as recommeded by PT Margaret Martin. There are many vibration platforms in the market ( dont be led down the garden path) but this one is suited to osteo issues. Check it out. Yes it is expensive but your life is worth it.

I started Osteostrong in Dec. 2023. I had a Dexa in May 2023 and it said my lumbar was -3.4 and hip was -1.6. I was very surprised at this. I am active and healthy. Anyway, I did not want to do the meds. So, after researching a lot ( I am a scientist by profession, so I like to look at the numbers!), I have been consistently been taking Calicum, vit k, vit d and boron. I was trying to increase the weight on my bones with weight vest and running a little, sometimes doing hops etc. Then I found Osteostrong luckily in my area. Also lucky was that they took our OnePass gym benefit from our heatlh insurance. Anyway, I have been doing it every week since then. They now have a Echolight device that a professional runs that is standard in Europe for bone density as it is more sensitive and extensive. I had that done a couple of weeks ago ($157) and with that, my lumbar was -2.0 and my hip was -1.8, my bone fragility is normal. It's hard to tell if it's the difference in the testing types, or the osteogenic loading or both. I will have another Dexa in a year, so that will be interesting. betterbones.com/bone-health-basics/will-the-new-ultrasound-device-replace-dexa-bone-density-testing/

My results were better using echolight technology too. My Dexa was within months of the echo which I did for curiosity.

Good for you. I also go to Osteostrong and it has worked for me. But I don’t just rely on that once a week exercise routine. I lift weights, play tennis and golf and do a lot of stretching. Now I wish I could find a place to get Echolight near Fort Myers Fl

@patjack2, I am not familiar with FL, but here's a locations list in case you haven't seen it.

Here's a statement I found per a NASA document I located here:
https://www1.grc.nasa.gov/space/human-research-program/computational-modeling/musculoskeletal/
"The Computational Modeling Project developed computational simulations of humans using several exercise devices that might be used during an exploration mission...

The Computational Modeling Project produced device models of the Advanced Resistive Exercise Device (ARED), which astronauts currently use onboard the space station and is the first exercise device experimentally demonstrated to reduce, but not eliminate, both bone loss and muscle deconditioning.

ARED is, unfortunately, unable to fit within the confines of an exploration spacecraft, so the project delivered an integrated model of a human using the Hybrid Ultimate Lift Kit (HULK), a potential next generation exercise device, to perform squat and heel raise exercises. The project also delivered a bone turnover model capable of predicting bone mineral density, a measure of bone health, as a function of whether or not the astronaut exercised during a 180 day mission."
