Sleep issues

Does anyone have vivid nightmares post Covid?

I tested positive for Covid on October 3rd. I begged the doctor to give me Paxlovid. They kind of made me scared of it. I had a very sore throat and hoarseness, which furthered my fear of a bad reaction, so I stopped taking it after two days. Worst decision of my life. I felt great but on October 10th I got a rebound and have not recovered or been myself since. All sorts of awful symptoms have transpired since that day. Early on in my rebound I began to have these horrible nightmares that would feel so real that I could not decipher reality from the dream. It take It gave me panic attacks. And that was the beginning of my extreme fight or flight mode and night terrors. I still have these night terrors and they are very troubling. They can ruin my entire morning and now I have sleep anxiety. The night terrors are vivid, violent, and negative. Very out of character for me. They get worse with hormonal changes. Also if I’m having body pain of any kind I feel it in my dream. I was not hospitalized at any point during this. This morning I woke up to feeling like I had been physically assaulted and could not breathe.

I go to the Mayo Clinic in a couple of weeks. Ready for this Covid nightmare day time and night time to be over.

They have a long Covid clinic. I have no idea what all it entails. I go there this month. Hopeful, they will give me some relief and a recovery plan. Like many others, I am totally lost with this illness and the toll it has taken on my body and mind.

@aopal000 Good for you, Mayo folks are the best. Thanks to them I feel better today, not 100% yet but continuing to execute my Mayo plan and with time hope to have LC as a bad memory, but a memory at least.

WOW! I can partially relate. I have had very strange dreams (when I am able to sleep decently). Let me ask you this - are all your LC symptoms psychological/mental related? I have had no physical issues from it at all.

Don't beat yourself up about stopping Paxlovid. I've had Covid twice, both times got better with Paxlovid, then got rebound, then many months (and continuing) of long covid symptoms, including severe sleep disruption.
