Switching Transplant centers for post transplant care
Hey everyone. I am new here. I have had two kidney transplants at the U of M and would like to transfer care to Mayo Rochester. When I mentioned this to the U, they told me Mayo would never allow this. Has anyone transferred to the Mayo post transplant? Thanks for you time!

Good morning.
My transplant was at Mayo Rochester. I live in central Kentucky, and connect with m y transplant dept via the patient portal throughtout the year. My husband and I return to Minnesota annually for my check-up. My local PCP monitor my health and is willing to work with my transplant team. My routine labs are performed locally and results are faxed to Mayo. My immunosuppressant medications are monitored and prescribed by my transplant team.

My neighbor had a kidney transplant at Legacy last year. She's doing very well. I've heard goodness about them for a while. I live near Bend. I like visiting Portland, and have a ton of Alaska Air miles to get back when I need to visit OHSU again. I didn't mention it but I have two grown nephews that live between Portland and Astoria that I'll visit, as well.

Rosemary, I've not seen my hepatologist at OHSU in person since I was released in 2021. It's all been via video con on My Chart. I'm doing good enough that they don't require me in Portland at all, and I live about 2.5 hours away. You all have made me feel a lot more comfortable with making this move. Looks like this will be a non-issue for me.
