Anyone have extreme itchy back?

Posted by calinski420 @calinski420, May 31, 2022

Just curious if anyone has extreme itching of your back . I have COPD, MAC and Bronchiectasis. This itch seems deep in the tissue. The sensation is a cross between itching/pain and numbness. Scratching does make it feel better. It feels like something is "there"

O hi thought I was going crazy! My back itches so so badly. It has been in my scalp too. I need to have answers. I have MAC and bronchectasis. I’m on no meds.

Thanks for you all sharing. I don’t feel so alone.

I have been taking the big 3 since December 2023. My skin is itching and my scalp is worse. Does anyone have any remedies to help with the itching?

I also have an itch in the middle of my back thats difficult to scratch. Ive had Bronchiectasis/MAC for now two years. Only nebulize with 7% and budesonide .5% both twice a day. I cant say what causes the itch. Age? Im 77.
However what does help is to put a lotion on the itch. Seems to help a lot. Maybe it dry skin. My itch is on the surface. Sue is inspiring. Eat a good diet.
For me its fruits and vegetables, mostly organic and since Im loosing weight, nuts, fish and eggs. Proteins seem necessary. Im currently looking into a protein whey thats plant based. Wishing you well. Hal

I too am on big 3 since December 2023 and developed rash in my back and sides and will make an appointment with my dermatologist and I have also developed slight swelling in my legs which disappears by morning-my vitals are normal and echocardiogram was normal- does anyone know if we can contribute both conditions to the big three—or at least one of the big three? Thanks

It could be one ot the combination of these, or it could be something else.

This is a great question for a Clinical Pharmacist or Nurse with a Pharmacy subspecialty. You provide a list of all prescriptions , over-the-counter-meds, supplements, "natural remedies", topical creams and lotions (like Ben Gay or similar) -everything that goes in or on your body, including the dosage & frequency of each, plus any allergies you have.
They have "interaction checker" tools and can see exactly where the issues might be. There are similar tools on-line, but theirs are more comprehensive.

Can you ask one of your doctors for a referral? Large clinical systems usually have these people on staff or on a consultant basis.

Thank you. I will try the lotion.

Try Eucerin anti itch lotion. The itch could be caused by dry skin on your back.

My head is itchy too. Probably dry skin. There are some anti-itch sprays that may help you.

Common side effects of Ethambutol are itching and a rash. That may be the culprit. The suggestions given here are good ones and helpful.
