Tired of the gaslighting

Posted by cwitton1 @cwitton1, Jan 5 8:24am

I am done.
No more doctors. They’ve gaslit me, passed me off, placated me with unnecessary tests, tried detrimental drug therapies. No more “specialists” who pass you along to the next because it’s “not my job”. They straight up don’t believe anything I say. I am done. This journey that started in 1989 with a case of mononucleosis has ruined my life. I am done chasing answers and being mentally traumatized by doctors’ lack of empathy or concern. I am tired of reading my after visit notes and finding errors- things we never discussed or blatant lies about being examined. I am sick to death of being told it’s just anxiety manifesting or my brain tricking my body to make it *think*there’s pain when “there isn’t”. There is pain. A lot of pain, and I do not wonder at all why people with autoimmune disorders or chronic conditions- chronic pain patients, take unthinkable measures. News flash:NSAIDS don’t do squat for pain. They only wreck your kidneys and liver. What I have learned in the last 35 years is you can trust no one but yourself. Doctors are not there to help you. Doctors are there to make money and feel important about themselves. Doctors refuse to tell us, “I don’t know.” I’m tired, and it’s become more of a self preservation technique to just walk away. No more visits. No more medications. Whatever will be, will be. Call me a quitter. I don’t care. We were brought up to think if you’re sick, go to a doctor and they will help you get better. If your pain is new or gets worse, go to your doctor. They will figure out the cause. This is bs. No one’s going to help you. No one’s going to believe you. You will begin to question your sanity and eventually come to the conclusion that you’re on your own. The power dynamic in medicine is huge. They may have paid for an education, but I am not stupid and I know my body. This is me, finally defeated, jaded and hopeless. This is me accepting that this is how the rest of my life will be, forever. It’s not an exciting, rosy prospect. This is me, and I am done.

Have you tried Lidocaine pain patches for nerve pain (like Salonpas brand) or capsaicin creams? Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements help some with nerve pain and I heard Magnesium helps, too.

Thank you for the suggestion. Sometimes that helps. I have drawers full of every over the counter remedy currently available: magnets, Corydalis pills, hemp capsules, microwavable pads, red light therapeutics, infra red lights, a Saunders traction device, special pillows, all tyoes of wraps and more. Have had physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, and osteopathic adjustment. Aging brings pains that are resistant to easy relief.

Penn, I know the text was auto “corrected” erroneously and you meant anesthesia. I would question anyone who took the word of an LPN over your prescribing physician and need for a second opinion, based on your health history and symptoms. I know the LPN can’t be prescribing your current medication, so I think you need to get that doctor involved and, if need be a legal team or at least the patient advocacy department at the facility that your prescribing physician.
We had to deal with a home health nurse that had my mother in law taking a handful of pills at the same time as her thyroid medication and with food(!) and who rearranged her pill schedule without notifying the prescribing MD, to have her taking meds that were dangerous due to interactions if taken together, despite the MD’s and bottle instructions for use. I researched all of her medications when I began caring for her and when I found the issues, the LPN started lying about me to her manager to try to save her job, but the MD confirmed my concerns were justified and they removed the LPN from the my MIL’s health service rotation. They sent out a NP to review the medication schedule.
Be your own best advocate!
God Bless and Good Luck!

Hello again,
Administration is looking into this! They do not understand why the LPN, lied to me about sending script for MR Neurogram, I called Radiology 4 time, not there! Refuses to tell me the truth, I called Patient Liaison she called Administration, All the Neurologist said I need Ultra Sound of my leg!! What! It's my whole rt. side. Nerve pain is becoming unbearable. The Neurologist made all this decisions and have not seen her in years!! How can she know anything without calling me???? Person from Admin. agreed. So now I'm waiting for a call from her, Admin. What are they hiding?? Anastasia is more like twilight sleep. I told the women "Your Hospital" is know to be one of the best hospitals. People are there from other Countries. I'm not optimistic because I'm only the patient. Wishing you a great day!

I just noticed on my recent gynecologist visit for culposcopy that they stated that they had done a urune pregnancy test.
1. I'm 64 freaking years old
2. I had a tubal ligation at age 30
3. I had menopause at age 47
4. I haven't had sex for about 2 years

If I get billed for it I might turn into a Karen 😝
