Ladies: How are you managing vaginal atrophy as you age?
TO THE LADIES ONLY: As I got older I started developing vaginal atrophy. Then I started developing open splits on my labia that were extremely painful. I went to urgent care one weekend and was prescribed vaginal estrogen medicine. It did the trick but I didn’t want to use estrogen. I went to a GYN that recommending organic coconut oil to use externally only. This was a few years ago and it has worked perfectly. I have never had another problem. At all. I wanted to pass along a natural inexpensive solution to vaginal atrophy.

I’ve been using it for a couple of years. I use a very small amount. I put a small dab in my hand and rub my hands together and wipe my labia with my hand. I have never noticed any coconut smell. I haven’t tested that with oral sex, but there’s no smell in usual situations. Not in my clothes either.

2 ReactionsOkay. I may try it. I don’t think I have dryness, but I want to stay moisturized. I’ve just resumed having sex after a good while and want to maintain.
It really has no ofor.

1 ReactionOkay….good to know.
Honestly, it is organic, healthy, human grade for cooking and completely non-irritating, so it might be quite pleasant for oral sex or regular sex.

2 ReactionsThat would be ideal. I didn’t find anything in the stores, as I wanted a lubricant that was a hybrid of water based and part silicone. Nobody had it and its out of stock at many stores like Walmart, Target, etc. I didn’t have time to order online. The hybrid seems hard to find. The coconut oil is much easier to find.
@frouke Going back to this earlier discussion, and as I'm catching up on it, I wonder if the atrophy could be due to lichen sclerosus (particularly, "differentiated"), with which I am especially familiar with lately.
It may not be, but in the interest of helping out with additional possibilities / information, I would only hope to help as you address this development.
I hope it is identified and managed to your comfort level. Best wishes.

1 ReactionFor me, my vaginal atrophy has been solved cheaply, easily, permanently, healthily and painlessly. In my case, coconut oil did it and continues to after years.
