Reclast Infusions: Side-effects & Recovery time
I just had a reclast infusion last week and have had serious side effects. I had the worst flue like aching for 5 days then my lefty arm became full of inflammation in the wrist, elbow and shoulder which caused extreme pain and I lost the ability to straighten my elbow. Ultrasound showed huge amounts of fluid throughout the arm. The right arm is now starting to have the same symptoms. The pain is excruciating. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Neither the ER doctor nor the Dr. who prescribed the procedure knew what to do to ease the symptoms. Both arms from fingertips to shoulder are swollen and neither elbow will straighten. Anyone else have adverse reactions to the reclast infusion? If yes, how long did it last?

My doctor told me take Tylenol prior and drink water, lots a water.
I did that also but it didn’t touch my spinal pain.
Oh, me too! I'm happy for anyone that gets good results. Let us know your experience goes.
I am so sorry to hear of your awful reaction. I have been doing Reclast infusions for a few years and the only reaction I have had is a headache.
Any idea as to why the terrible reaction? Was this your first infusion? It just seems so odd and yet awful for you. Perhaps an allergic reaction?
I wish you a speedy recovery!
No clue why
And thank you
Sorry to hear about issues you've had. I had Reclast infusions two years in a row, and now have them about every other year depending on what my endocrinologist sees in Dexa scores and lab work. I've never had any reactions to the infusions.
Curious why endocrinologists keeps an eye on your scores and not a GP or Internal medicine doctor?
My Mayo internist keeps an eye on my status, but feels my endocrinologist is best equipped to monitor and fine tune my meds for best bone health.
Interesting thank you
