In 1960 a baby girl was born with only one ventricle, and a malformed pulmonary artery. 58 years later, that little girl, Kim Russell, is alive and well thanks to continued care at Mayo Clinic.

Nearly 30 years after receiving the second of two Blalock-Taussig shunts at her local hospital in her native Atlanta, Georgia, Russel had those shunts replaced at Mayo Clinic, allowing her to continue to live the life she wants. Now under the care of Carole Warnes, M.D.,
