Coming April 13th: New Onsite Notifications

Apr 11, 2022 | Colleen Young, Connect Director | @colleenyoung | Comments (22)

Onsite notifications alert you when new activity happens in the Groups and Blogs & Podcasts that you follow. See your notifications in the upper right corner.

Improvements to your onsite notifications are coming on Wednesday, April 13. Here are a few of the new things you’ll notice.

  • The number of notifications are displayed in the upper right corner on any device.
  • Notifications are organized by discussion and group, so you can easily see the topic and group in which the comment was made.
  • Comments to the same discussion accumulate in one notification from the last time you checked your notifications. This will reduce the number of notifications.

New Reactions

Reactions are an extension of the Like button. Now you can quickly and easily show people that you like their post, find it helpful, or send a hug.

Important

You will see the new notifications and reactions starting Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Note that any unanswered notifications up to April 13 will be removed. To catch up on activity from April 10 and earlier, please refer to your email Digest.

@loujentez3, Connect doesn't support voice communications if that's what you are trying to do. If members want to talk with each other, they can easily share contact information including phone numbers using the private message function in Connect. For the step by step instructions to send a private message, see the Getting Started on Mayo Clinic Connect guide here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/help-center/.

@loujentez3, I think I may have misunderstood you. If you are trying to schedule an appointment at a Mayo Clinic location, you can find the contact information for Minnesota, Arizona and Florida here http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63.

Hi, I have a question - how come the comment details etc do not show up anymore in our notification list? You have to physically click on each one to see what they are...help? Thanks

Hi @rivermaya34, I miss that feature too!
What do you think about the new reaction options?

Hello, I miss it too, but have been glad to trade it for some other features - like only getting one notification when a message has many responses, and the new reaction buttons.
What do you think of those?

I like them ok, but I feel they aren't very useful now. The new notification system has really deterred me from using this as much, which saddens me because it's a tool that's had an enormous impact on my life. Hope this gets reverted back but, if not, that's ok too.

Very true, and I agree with you on that. Tbh, I don't really like the new updates all that much. Just my personal opinion. I don't like coming on here as much anymore because it feels like an unbroken system was manipulated, and now "I'm not in Kansas anymore", so-to-speak lol. Oh well tho...
