Sharing Mayo Clinic: Kindhearted Kid Perseveres Through Multiple Heart Surgeries

Matthew Makela, three years old, has undergone multiple surgeries in his short life, including two for the congenital heart defect Tetralogy of Fallot. Although Makela and his family know that he will have to eventually have a pulmonary valve replacement, they are able to face life with grace and gratitude.
