your experience and opinion about bronchoscopy

Hi all,
I was scheduled to have a bronchoscopy because of my big nodules and the sputum culture did not tell what they were related. It seems to me that a lot of you had this procedure before. Looking back, do you think you should skip it? Did you get anything useful out of it which you would not have otherwise? My pulmonologist thinks the nodules might be related to NTM. But my 3 cultures don't show that. I am on the fence now. I value your opinions and your experiences.
Thanks in advance!

In 1997 a routine chest x-ray showed suspicious tuberculosis,I had no sputum, no symptoms, so I had bronchoscopy , specimen obtained showed MAC , I had that big 3 for about 6 months, no follow-up, I’ve been fine till 2021 had bad productive cough, saw a pulmonologist did a lot of test, x-rays ct scan and sputum cultures, diagnosed with BE , he missed the positive for MAC, He only prescribed Levaquin which helped my “infection “, until after I had Covid this year (new year’s day) , had antibiotics which helped my cough but it only last for a couple of weeks, I start having productive cough again, sputum cultures done, positive for Mac, now I got started on the big 3 for a month now , I feel much better, no more coughing, I do airway clearance. I thank God I found this website, I’m learning a lot about NTM and BE thank you everyone for all your input! Praise the Lord!

The bronchoscopy made diagnosis for MAC possible. It also ruled out cancer since I had nodules.

It provides a lot of mental health and physical clarity. The procedure itself was not difficult at all. Just have a good doctor and facility
