Xiidra (Lifitegrast ophthalmic solution) for dry eyes

I am a longtime dry eye sufferer. Just received prescription for Xiidra. Interested to hear from Xiidra users and their experiences with this medication.

I had a fair bit of burning and stinging with Restasis that persisted for hours and hours. My normal level of discomfort was preferable. There was no way I could tolerate it long enough to see if it would have caused improvement. It takes a couple of months to know if it's working for you (or not).

@sue225 I,ll give it a try I have Systain for during day if I need it I usually lie down with warm washcloth during day but keep Restasis I'm fridge

@lioness I have used Allergan's Refresh Celluvisc plus nightime ointment for many (many) years.

I would not call them teary eyes after the meds just very blurred like Vaseline on a window. When I first started Restasis the drops burned a bit but faded with use. I hope you have great success with your Restasis going forward. Be Safe.

I would not call them teary eyes after the meds just very blurred like Vaseline on a window. When I first started Restasis the drops burned a bit but faded with use. I hope you have great success with your Restasis going forward. Be Safe.

@sue225 Sorry for the late response I had computer problems but are fixed now . I think Im going to have to add ointment at night also . Geez Latanoprost , Restasis and ointment my eyes should be well lubricated I hope . Dry eyes not fun.

My dr. prescribed this because of not only my dry eyes but my filamentary keratitis. It is supposed to help the filaments not attach to the eye. I read all the scary reactions to this drug and had an anxiety attack before I ever used it! I have been using it 3 weeks now though I opted to do just once a day to be sure I would not get reactions. Yes there is some burning but most eye drops in dry eyes produce burning. Yes there is blurriness but that subsides after about 1.5 hours. I tilt my head back and press on inner eye corners as instructions say to not get runoff after inserting. None of my vials were empty. There is adequate liquid for a large drop in each eye plus some left over. Best of all in these 2 weeks it has helped my filamentary keratitis. Read all the comments but give it a try.

It says to keep at 68-77 degrees.

Has the xiidra continued to help with filamentary keratitis? Has anything else helped with filamentary keratitis?

Yes, Xiidra is supposed to start working within 2 weeks unlike Restasis which can take up to six months.
