Worsening exhaustion and LC symptoms

Posted by crowlee @crowlee, Jun 10 4:32pm

Has anyone else noticed that? I seem to be getting worse after having LC since Jan 2024. I also now have allergies which I never had before so much so my eyes swelled shut. My heat intolerance is through the roof; I got heat stroke yesterday at work inside (!) where it was warm, but not hot. I had to leave and spent yesterday and most of today lying down.
Has anyone experienced things like this? I’m at my wit’s end - nothing helps.

Prescription Low Dose Naltrexone is being used by several people Long COVID. It helps me with additional energy (I have constant fatigue and post exercise malaise) and it stops about 50% of my inflammation so minimizes my pain. It works by suppressing your endorphins for about two hours and then your body over produces endorphins for about 6 hours - for me, the additional endorphins gives me more energy. I take it in the morning as, for me, it causes insomnia if I take it too late. It also gave me quite vivid dreams (not nightmares) the first two weeks I was on it.

Side effects are varied so docs usually start you quite low like .5 mg or 1.5 mg and work up slowly to a max of 4.5 mg. Some people do better on less than 4.5 milligrams so you have to decide where your sweet spot is. I like 3.5 mg for me. It will not cure me but does make my days more tolerable.

COVID Review: 70 yrs old now. COVID March 2020, resulting in brain fog, leg neuropathy, weakness and pain, Raynauds, frequent skin infections from simple bug bites, heat regulation issues. Gluten free diet, NO processed foods including deli meat, pizza, no dairy, 1500 mg l-proline (AA in collagen) . Within 3 months brain fog, leg neuropathy pain and weakness was dramatically improved. Infections stopped after quitting artifical sweetners and adding one ounce pumpkin seeds. Took about two months. The heat dysregulation is directly connected to histamine dysregulation and will require a total avoidence of histamine releasing foods including: tomatoes, salsa, mayo, vinegar and most spices. The dysregulation also causes itching and skin eruptions. If you have a post COVID histamine releasing food issue, the food avoidence should result in less itching and reduced heat dysregulation within 1-2 days. Being nervous also releases histamine. All info is based on my experience. Raynauds remains.

Yes, Since my second bout with Covid in August of 2024, I become exhausted after only about 10 minutes of anything resembling "work". Nothing I have tried has brought back my energy and stamina. I can't even mow my lawn.

Totally relate —— fiancé feels same after doing “ any” thing even when tries to push through …. I am sorry for what you are going through .

I am sorry you all are suffering! I too am a Long Hauler and suffered from extreme exhaustion, brain fog, stuttering, hives (which I still get occasionally), balance issues like I’m on a boat, headaches (still get them), stuffed up sinuses and no taste or smell and also dehydration. All of my symptoms, but for those I still have on occasion, have gotten much much better, but I still can’t taste or smell. I would suggest to take some form of electrolytes to hydrate such as LMNT which I order on Amazon. It’s been a helpful option for me and it’s a pretty easy thing to do. Good luck and good health to all of you!

Thank you. This is so helpful to me! I’m seeing two pulmonologists, and now a cardiologist for the oppressive heart palpitations. But the worst is the chronic fatigue.
This is my 4th adventure 😞with the virus, and the worst. Going on 9 months. I’m 72 and trained3x a week because I did NOT wish to be weak as I grew older. I am so unhappy with this.

Hi Kim, That’s GREAT that you’re feeling so much better. Wonderful!
(1) How long did it take to get so much better?
(2) Any ideas why you’ve improved so much?
(3) How long did you have LC before you got better?

Yeah it sucks and after all the different doctors, treatments and research nothing gets rid of the virus from your body. Only help with symptoms. I do daily injections with Wolverine (a peptide combo) it’s has great healing affects and it helps me feel more normal. But it’s only healing damages from the virus. I just pray one day it’ll go away.
