Wooziness and Eliquis, taken without food

Posted by devotion @devotion, 2 days ago

I take an Ultra low dose of Eliquis, 1.25mg/ 2x a day, and I usually take it with food. Tonight I took it 30 minutes after eating, and I suddenly felt very woozy. There was also some mild nausea a little later. That had never happened before when taking it with food. It took about 2 hours to settle, but then about an hour later, the wooziness returned at a milder level. Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Hello there, I have taken Eliquis at lunch time with food and at night right before bed with a light snack. I have a sensitive GI system so food helps me, I think. My doctor said if this works for me to continue with it. I take it with my other heart meds about the same time each day.
Have you previously taken it without food? I am wondering what your doctor recommends. Hope you find out what it going on. It is always a good day when you feel well.

I take Eliquis ( 5 mg tab) in the morning with my other medication, on an empty stomach. I've never had any side effects, including nausea or other GI side effects, from this medication.

The instructions on the package insert, and in the literature state Eliquis can be taken with or without food.

@devotion The med info on eliquis does say that if you get an upset stomach taking it on an empty stomach, to take it w food. If you have a home B/P monitor, it would be good to check if you feel woozy again so you can let your doctor know what’s happening. You might to let them know anyway if this is an unusual change.
