Wondering if anyone has heard of this or tried it

Hello. I have a discussion about my health issues incase anyone wants any background. I posted this differently because I wanted to know if anyone has ever heard of or tried this nail in test. It’s from Everlywell and it’s called Food Sensitivity Test? I’m desperate and trying pretty much anything. I’ve googled it and just wanting to know if anyone knows anything about it. Thank you 😊

Hello @bentley33

I read some of your previous posts and see that you deal with a lot of digestive problems. As I have had three surgeries of the digestive tract, I can certainly understand your frustration.

I did check out Everlywell's website and must admit that I'm intrigued by their testing. I'm looking forward to hearing if anyone else has tried it.

My daughter recently was tested for food sensitivities through checkmybodyhealth.com
They analyze a hair sample. She developed numerous food sensitivities and allergies in the past year.

Hello @astaingegerdm,
Thanks for weighing in on this topic. Was your daughter aware of these food sensitivities before having the hair analysis? How is she feeling now that she understands what foods are a problem for her?

My daughter was aware of many food sensitivities found in the test- but there was also new information. The food allergies and sensitivities developed almost overnight and caused a lot of confusion and panic in her life. There are many cross reactions too, such as pollen allergies with foods. She had recently been diagnosed with celiac disease - an autoimmune disease that often exists with hypothyroidism, which she already had.
She is feeling much better now. The exposure to all the allergens caused chronic inflammation in the body, which is now more or less gone.

I’m glad she is feeling better.
So you would suggest doing a test that look for food allergies? It’s not another scam?

Testing for food allergies can be done by an allergist. These other tests are for food sensitivities that also can cause bad symptoms, but would not cause severe reactions-as I understand it.

@astaingegerdm That's wonderful that your daughter is feeling better, it certainly makes the testing worthwhile. So far the only thing I know I react to is lactose, and that's just been since I have been on immunosuppressants. I will be aware of gluten and celiac though since I too have hypothyroidism.
When my son was a toddler he had a terrible reaction to gluten. Back then there was no internet so I scoured every book in every bookstore and in the library to find information. I finally found out that there is a form of celiac that affects children when they are teething! He did not have a problem with his first teeth, just with the next bunch that came in. Poor kid, if I didn't get to him immediately, as in if he had a bowel movement during the night, it would leave his skin totally raw. After his teeth were in it stopped. I wonder if he is at risk for celiac at some point though.

Hi @bentley33,

I was wondering if you’ve seen this discussion started by @rhyo9?

– The LEAP Protocol is a food sensitivity elimination diet based on an individual’s results from the MRT test (Mediator Release Test) designed to help reduce inflammation in the body.
– The Mediator Release Test (MRT) is a food sensitivity test identifying foods and food chemicals/ additives that are causing food sensitivity reactions by adding more inflammation to the body.
