Will feel great. . . short lived. . . poof it's gone!

Posted by summerof42 @summerof42, Jul 20, 2023

I see another member posted the same experience, ditto for me on several occasions and then poof. . . it's gone! I just don't get it.

I have Covid twice, or maybe even 3 times. At this point, I'm extremely ill and barely surviving and down to 89 lbs. All one and scared. Brain isn't functioning at 100% anymore. . . sorry if I have any typo's here. I left a voicemail for a new Dr. yesterday and they said I didn't live my cell number for call back, but theirs!

Over 3 yrs ago, when my Doc told me it's anxiety/depression (of course - always go-to answer) I took Escitalopram and about 2 weeks later I remember waking up and felt fabulous started to gain a few lbs and even went back into the office. Got on my knees and thank or Dear Lord. Unfortunately, that was short-lived and I went back to feeling very ill again with new and worse symptoms each and every month.

I just don't get it. Why would we feel better for days or even weeks, then we take numerous steps back only to feel much worse and get more symptoms?

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm sure stress played a big part, because Doctors don't believe what we're experiencing.

I'm now at the stage with no medical help whatsoever, Docs don't know what to do, since many tests turn out fine, including Mayo, I feel so very dizzy, lightheaded and weak, like I could faint, I have periods where I experience derealization, like my brain isn't functioning and I'll go into a sweat and panic PTSD like feeling, especially if I just try to lay down and rest. I have the terrible internal vibrations and shakiness, I found out I need surgery for a hernia which they can't do due to my extreme weight loss and current health and risk involved. Hernia is in the groin area and burns and hurts so bad.

If I go to the emergency room, they just send me home. Notes will show all tests (except for hernia) are fine, all Docs say it's anxiety, or the don't know why to treat LT Covid . Even when I asked my PCP at Northwestern University in Illinois to PLEASE help and admit me to the hospital about 2 yrs ago, they kept me there only 1 day, did an MRI and kicked me out.

Hi car0,
You're so kind, thank you. I wish you could go with me too! Unfortunately, I pretty used up all my friends and folks at my church for support during the last 3 yrs who have been so wondeful for support in going to so man appts, tests, and also to Mayo in Rochester (that was a complete waste of time and $$$$$$$$$$)

I'm worried about me too. I love life so much and it's excruciating watching it go by and wasting away. I try to remain positive, but at this point it's so hard and I losing strength and faith.

Hugs

Sweet Summer of 42, I have already sent you a DM but I will leave a short note here for others who may be reading. I don't know how much you can eat or drink--your symptoms do sound very severe. The anti-inflammatory, low histamine diet is VERY important, but for you it sounds like maybe one or two simple things may be best to start with first...

Hydration is absolutely key, so you can actually absorb nutrients and any supplements you may be taking. Plus it is necessary for cellular function. If you can only do ONE simple thing I would recommend drinking Liquid IV in your water (but water it down A LOT like in a 64oz container- one packet for the whole day - sip it all day long). Along with your electrolytes -- it must be Liquid IV for the high magnesium/sodium content -- take B-3 niacinamide, non-flushing form. 500mg x 4 per day. Yes, 2,000mg DAILY. This will allow your body to produce more NAD again. NAD is absolutely needed for ALL cellular function and body system function. Between those two things, for one week, I think you will see some difference. And if you can eat, this should help you absorb the nutrients that you need. I also took additional magnesium and potassium which helped me a lot, but I do not know what your primary symptoms are (I had heart palpitations).

For all others reading -- this protocol WILL work. This is the baseline protocol for ALL long haulers. The diet is key. You can also take an OTC anti-histamine to help reduce histamine levels. DM me for more information.

Thank you so much for your kindness. I'm hanging in there as best as I can. I even called the ER and they said, per my last two visits there wasn't really anything different they would do and more than likely release me AGAIN since my tests turned out normal and primary indicates "anxiety" this is causing the problem. Idiot.
I told them I know have lymph nodes in the neck, extreme pain in right flank area an stomach, hernia and some lab abnormalities (as listed below) and they said I should reach out to the Dr. who ordered them to discuss. Trust me, at these hospitals in my town they don't care, especially if your over 65. Even the hospital I went to 2 yrs ago, which was the Northwestern University Hospital, they released me next day.

I really prefer a integrative/holistic MD that treats symptoms and cares, especially when it comes to LT Covid. Trust me, I would find the strength within me to travel and get the help I need, but where? Even when I saw the internal MD at Mayo it was a big waste of time and $$$$$. He gave me an Rx for Guafancine, said, "why not try it, it'd good stuff." When I reached out to him 15 times pleading for him to call me back because it lowers blood pressure and mine is already low at my weight, and he refuses to call me back - nurses say he's too busy.

Hi @summerof42. Havnt been up to doing this and today hoping this finds you may have a little light at end of tunnel you’ve found thru alternative sources by you? I know each of us is so different with our bodies reactions and hopeful ok for me to share my simple things I think are helping. I have groceries bought for me and maybe they can deliver to you as even minimal shopping can decimate our efforts couple of days later☹️ Think protein and iron every couple of hours allows to stable levels affecting so much in us. So I buy precooked frozen turkey sausage, low sugar greek yogurt that tastes good! giant container fresh baby spinach (easy to grab handful), kombucha/ and or apple cider vinegar with the mother (digestive balance) that I add few ounces to hot green tea throughout day for stabilizing blood pressure/hydration . I set alarms for every couple of hours and I also eat some each time I go to bathroom/phone/fill out something. Basically eating before doing anything and not using up our bodies precious energy and resources. Another easy open frig item is the small high protein shake boxes that most have wonderful added nutrients if your stomach too sensitive for digesting food. I am happy to offer my help thru conference calls or other means you need if Im able. Small things each day can grow into real improvement so please allow us to continue to support you to find assistance there🌈

Unfortunately, no luck in finding a doctor or support. I saw a new PCP and she knew absolutely nothing about LT Covid and how to help me. Referred to me GI, but I've been down that road numerous times and unless you are working with a GI Doc that knows about Covid and how it wreaks havoc on our gut, they will order the basic endoscopy, colonoscopy, HIDA scan which I all had done. I wish I could find a good Integrative/Holistic MD, or someone who knows about LT Covid as I wither away.

In regards to food, I already have it delivered as well as an Rx's. I drink two organic protein drinks per day along with eating every hour.

I spoke with another member, and she said she is dealing with almost same issues with weight loss and found a GI Doc familiar with LT Covid and diagnosed her as having basically paralysis of the esophagus and gut; hence not taking in any nutrients. Doc told her Covid really starts a an inflammation nightmare everywhere in our body, stemming from the microbiome changes in our gut, leading to lung issues, organs, etc. So it's not that it's a lunch issue as previously thought, it's what the inflammation does to the brain (brain fog) and our other organs. Makes total sense.

I just saw a youtube Doc, Dr Levine (sp) who figured LT Covid cause and treatment out and Dr. Hyman. I say he spot on! I wish I could see him instead of wasting all my time and money at Mayo.

Another member told me to make sure to eat a low histamine diet, take the following which helped him immensely. Your thoughts? Have you tried this?
1. drinking Liquid IV in your water (but water it down A LOT like in a 64oz container- one packet for the whole day - sip it all day long). Along with your electrolytes
2. B-3 niacinamide, non-flushing form. 500mg x 4 per day. Yes, 2,000mg DAILY. This will allow your body to produce more NAD again. NAD is absolutely needed for ALL cellular function and body system function. Between those two things, for one week, I think you will see some difference. 3. magnesium and potassium for heart palpitations).
4.For the anxiety/overwhelm, possible depression take TAURINE, 500mg dose x 2-3 per day.

Hope I hit right key responding to you as saw issue answering before and doubting Im doing site right now 🙃. You have dealt with so much and handled such difficult uninformed opinions with such grace. I have tried as so many others to say our brains/nervous system/gut are not functioning as medical professionals routinely evaluate. Yes I have lung nodules, brain lesions and mass, etc but my saliva glands not working and lungs physically not moving to take in air dont fit their boxes to know what to do. I too have seen many different doctors, live in research hospital mecca, ran multi specialist practices over 20 yrs. to know questions/sources to no avail, and sadly your remarks about state of healthcare right on. That said please keep going at slow healthy pace finding steps forward and listening to your body to find specific healing things for you. I must share please that rest is critical in this healing and just typing, reading, etc can continue or exacerbate/create new symptoms☹️ My opinion, please save your energy for yourself resting instead of responding to those who luckily haven't had the experiences that brought most here🌈 I was sincere in my prior post about nutrition critical which is different for each person and truly hope we can assist you to find answers as doing this answer taking 2 hrs shows we care🙏

I really think the healthcare industry just doesn’t know enough about it yet to make any determinations or provide much help. It’s not an excuse, but just reality. I’ve been sent to an eye doctor, an allergist, an ENT, an audiologist, etc. to try to explain each of the symptoms I’m having. It’s like they’re trying to take each separate symptom and set me up with a specialist in each field that pertains to each symptom. What they really should be doing is putting the symptoms together and saying what ONE thing can be causing all of this. If I can find it on this Mayoclinic site, why can’t they. I had none of the symptoms I have now BEFORE I had Covid. They showed up with Covid and never left.
