Why do I have constant pain and constipation when ulcerative colitis i
I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2016. Mayo put me on Entyvio in 2018 and I have been in remission ever since yet I suffer almost daily from abdominal pain and bloating with constipation. My doctor wants me to go back to Mayo for IBS but that is out of the question. Colace can be too hard on me at times but doctor says to take it daily as needed. Can anyone relate to any of this cycle. Thanks.

Thanks for asking!
With empathy and understanding,
I am thankfully healed for he most part(my top to bottom bowel problems-IBD UC-went away after completely eliminating all NSAIDs (but, oh do I feel their absence!).
The constipation - diarrhea cycle has gone on for a couple of decades.
Fiber-Con (or its generic counterparts) has been extremely helpful and helps both extremes. This, alongside good hydration and activity/exercise as possible is reliable for me.
I cannot tolerate harsh fiber supplements!
Though my belly is tender, massaging the abdomen, lifting knees towards chest, or laying prone and gently moving the body, rocking a bit from side to side, stretching limbs and allowing the abdomen to be massaged by the floor are amazing techniques that naturally help stimulate and move the bowels.
I wish you each the best as life is made difficult when the bowel rules!
I will look into the fiber con. If it doesn't cause too much bloating! Thanks.
My son had similar issues and also tried Entyvio with the same results. Now doing really well on Rinvoq instead.
I've been on Entyvio since January after years of horrible diarrhea. No more diarrhea - Yay! - but now I also suffer with constipation and abdominal pain. I take magnesium L-threonate every day and about 3 days a week I also take a laxative. Sometimes just a stool softener. I do all the things - eat a whole foods diet with lots of fruits, veggies and legumes. I eat whole wheat bread and whole grains. I've tried MiraLAX and it has zero effect. I tried the supplement called "Emma" and that didn't work. I'm not able to do much exercise due to a torn Achilles but I do what I can (lift weights and stretching). I'm throwing up my hands in frustration.
