Why do I have buzzing in my ears all the time?

Posted by babby70 @babby70, Dec 12, 2023

About 5 months ago both ears started buzzing. Sometimes it's very loud, other times not so much. I know it's tinnitus, but is there any help for me?

Curious, how do hearing aids eliminate tinnitus? Can you use them for tinnitus if you don't need them for hearing? Thanks.

@cynthiarose that is a good question for an audiologist who specializes in tinnitus. My audiologist works with tinnitus patients but I have never asked that question. I have bilateral hearing aides and because they amplify the sounds that I need to hear, the tinnitus is less noticeable. At night when hearing devices are removed, the tinnitus is a primary noise again. It makes sense that hearing aids on a low volume could mask the tinnitus, though the increased sounds of daily life might drive you cray too! I hope you can see an audiologist who can answer this for you and help with this annoying issue.
