White dots in urine

Posted by Nicole19 @nicole19, May 11 5:19pm

Yesterday I started noticing white dots/particles in my urine. I know it’s not toilet paper because I noticed the dots before I wiped, unless there’s something leftover in the toilet bowl causing this. Since yesterday, it hasn’t happened all the time and this morning I went to the bathroom and didn’t notice the specks. Ive noticed them this afternoon though, at least one time and noticed them both times I’ve used the restroom. I’ve wondered if it’s an infection of some kind, but I haven’t had any symptoms of a UTI, like painful urination.

Since late last year, I’ve been noticing mucus or discharge hanging down from me after using the bathroom (it’s happened after only urinating and after having a bowel movement). There’s times I’ll go and it looks normal, and then other times I go and notice discharge or mucus. Last month, I started noticing that sometimes instead of mucus there’s been like a white substance in the toilet bowl that kind of looks almost like a tissue, but it’s kind of curly (I know it’s not a tissue though).
For several years, I’ve been struggling with constipation. Most days I’m going and having decent size bowel movements, but I often feel I’m not getting everything out.

What could be going on with the white dots and the discharge/mucus? I attached a couple images, one is of the white dots and the other is the discharge/white tissue looking substance.

I have a doctor’s appointment this month that I can mention this at.

@nicole19 you have had a lot going on for quite awhile now. It sounds like you are not sure what the source of the mucus and white particles is. Since these occurrences are associated with using the bathroom it seems logical that it is from the bladder, the vagina or your GI / bowel system. Only your doctor can test and be sure to get you the appropriate treatment as needed. We members can’t diagnose or provide prescriptions. You have mentioned that you have an appointment coming up in a few weeks. Has that happened? If not hopefully it is soon so that you can get some answers to your concerns. You could also show your provider this discussion thread and the photos you took.

I think it could be the tissue from the lining of you bladder falling off due to a bacteria call metaplasia attaching to the lining of your bladder. You need to ask your urologist if you can get get a cystoscopy .

@waco2 do you mean the white dots/particles could be, or the tissue looking object, or both?

I meant the tissue looking particles. I had the same kind of tissue coming out when I urinated and I told my urologist and he did a cystoscopy and saw the tissue like particles attached to a section of my bladder wall and he scraped it off . He told me it was called bladder Metaplasia.

@nicole
I forgot to tell you that it is caused by bacteria growing on your bladder wall

@waco2 if it’s alright asking, was the tissue looking substance always there? It’s happened for me every now and then, and it’s not all the time

No the tissue looking substance was not always in my urine, it would just come out every now and then. The bacteria I had attached to the lining of my bladder and started growing into white tissue like particles and pieces of it would fall off into my urine once in a while.
