Where is everyone from and what treatment works for you?
Hi! My name is Beverly and live in Jax Florida. Where is everyone from? And is anyone here found a treatment plan for fibromyalgia that works with you? Thank you!

@19281928 Hi from California! I have found noticeable relief taking turmeric with curcumin (black pepper extract). 2500mg 3x a day. It can cause heartburn so I take it with yogurt.

2 ReactionsHello! I am also in Florida! In the Tampa area. I moved here from NH 8 years ago due to my fibro. I wasn't diagnosed until 15 years ago, but I have had it most of my life, I am 45 now. I actually just started a support group for those of us in Florida that are fighting fibro. I would like to expand it into an organization once I get enough support. As I have been fighting this for a long time and I am sick of the lack of support in this country. All of my links can be found on FaceBook under the page Fighting Fibro in Florida. I am making groups for more states too !
I only got serious about managing my fibro a couple of years ago. I have tried all kinds of crazy things. I take some supplements, do light yoga, meditate, and stay as active as possible. I decided to take a Mind, Body, and Spirit approach to my wellness journey. Lots of therapy, shadow work, self compassion, pacing, and such. I also get chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, regular massages, and myofascial release.
I have about 10 books on Fibromyalgia. I also listen to fibro podcasts and do a lot of research. I think learning is key.

5 Reactions@jeannesf1 Are you saying you can't get an appt with your on-line doctor? Or that your insurance won't cover it? I agree with another person who commented you should purchase it yourself. Insurance won't cover it because it's prescribed "off label". It helps me tremendously. I had to visit a pain clinic to get my prescription but later learned my primary Dr will prescribe it. It costs me $115 for a 3 month supply.

1 ReactionI'm Sherri, and I'm from Ohio, where my fibromyalgia was diagnosed in the early 80s. I currently live in Las Vegas, NV. I started out being treated with Elavil and Extra Strength Tylenol. Elavil worked great, but made me too sleepy, and I couldn't work, so I started taking Flexeril, which worked better. I probably stopped taking it when I was diagnosed with Stage III kidney disease. I don't recall what treatment I used after that. At some point, I started using Biofreeze, which I wasn't too happy with, and then I found Mountain Ice many years ago. I use Mountain Ice several times a day, especially before bed, and it's been a lifesaver for me. It works better for me than CBD. It's all about the ingredients. Check out their website. I combine the Pain Relief Gel with the Sports Recovery Gel and massage it wherever I need it. Eventually, I entered into pain management and started taking narcotics and receiving epidural injections, then Radio Frequency Ablation was recommended. I've had two RFA procedures, the last one in 2017, and received significant pain reduction for about 3 years with each one. I'm preparing for another RFA, but I have to complete an MRI first. Since I have a pacemaker, special precautions and testing are required to ensure the pacemaker is compatible with the MRI machine's magnets. I've taken narcotics for several years, and I currently take Oxycodone 7.5 mg/APAP 325 mg four times a day. Baclofen was added within the last year to help with muscle stiffness and tightness. I take 5 mg once or twice a day, depending on my pain level. Still, I never know from one day to the next how I'm going to feel, and some days I just have to stay in bed. I recently restarted taking full-spectrum oral tincture and topical CBD and found myself to be extra sensitive to the THC, so I stopped taking the tincture and just use the topical CBD without THC. It's hard to gauge how much drug you're actually getting because it is topical, plus it doesn't give me the relief I need right now. I have an adjustable bed with a massager, and I often have to take time to sit in my La-Z-Boy recliner and use its heat and massager as well. Personal exercise and physical therapy have also been helpful at various points throughout my treatment. After reading all the posts about unsuccessful RFAs, I have only to say that, in my opinion, the physician's technique plays a big role in effective treatment.
