What's up with the pain medication?

Posted by koneil @koneil, Mar 8, 2025

I'm not sure if any members are experiencing this butI am. I am a chronic pain patient. I'm seen for back pain a long with many other issues.
I get a prescription for morphine , used twice a day for 30 days. That medication has been out of stock for over two months here. I also have had problems with 10/325 hydrocodone. They limit my prescriptions to 120 per month. It's also difficult to get. Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Please advise.

Good morning sundance. I've been to New Mexico at least a dozen times, I went to Red River to snow ski. Also Angel fire and around the Taos area.
The homes weren't chesp there, nor the prices. I'm sure it's because the skiing.
I've never been to the west side of New Mexico. I'm good with that as long as its not a desert, like most of the lower half of New Mexico.o

@koneil Hi! New Mexico is a very different place! The northern have is above 5,000'. Then you go south of ABQ and it steadily drops until you get to El Paso.
We go from mountains at 12,000' to about 3,000'. Most people think of NM as I-40 which is not very pretty!
Where I live is in a little town named Aztec. There are 3 towns in what they call the Four Corners. Farmington, Bloomfield , and Aztec! West of Farmington is the Navajo Nation, the largest size wise in the US.
Most of the economy is tied to Natural Gas production! One of the largest in the US.
In Aztec I live 20 miles south of Colorado and the Ski town of Durango!
I life on the Animas River, which has a large stand of Cottonwoods.
Prices in my area are higher than Albuquerque. The city of ABQ is short of a million people! But it is spread out. You have a 10,000' mountain on the east side of town. If there is enough snow in a year they have a great little ski area.
Prices in ABQ are moderate compared to Phoenix or Denver.
Lived there for 50 years and loved it.
Moved up here to Aztec 4 years ago to be closer to my family! A little more quiet! I live on the edge of a 100 year old ranch! Very Peaceful!
Hope I answered most of your questions. If not give me a Shout back!
Thanks,
Sundance, aka RB

@woojr Hmm. I'm not on Survivor.
I do like New Mexico, but it has a big problem with crime.
Also, access to Healthcare is important. Pain management is a plus.
I'll see. I'm not boxing up anything at this time.
Ive been to the four corners before. I do not remember the cities around it.
My back will only stand a few hours in the car,so it will take sometime to drive up there. Im retired, I have the time.

I am on Fentanyl patch and my pharmacy has problems vetting it now. I also use THC gummies for PAIN. The company that makes them is Encore and must say RSO on the front. I use 1 type for daytime and another grape ones to sleep!! I love them and great for my liver!! No other opiates for me. I live in NJ and have a medical marijuana card. It is less expensive with the card. I have had CRPS for 20 years so lots of bad stuff for pain has been used in the past . Gentle hugs

Yes, according to my pharmacist, all areas in the U.S. were having problems getting morphine for prescriptions. It should be better by now.

Good afternoon siclygurl. I have not tried Walmart, but the Sam's Club was not fun. They limit the quantity of hydrocodone to 120 per month.
The pharmacist went over all my other medications . He said all my medications out loud so everyone in the prescription line could hear. That's OK that he was doing due diligence with my meds, but don't humiliate me fof taking pain medication. I never went back to that pharmacy.
In my experience, CVS has some faults They have never made me feel like a criminal.
In San Antonio, we have HEB grocery stores. HEB has the best pharmacy around, and a very good grocery store.
One stop for me.
Good luck on your pain meds.

The medical system in the USA no longer treats pain. You are on yiur own. Ive even had a mayo surgeon say he prescribes tylenol for post surgical pain. REALLY?

My problem is getting somebody to prescribe what I am using now. My doctor is retiring, and there is no pain doctor in my area who will even take me as a patient.

Maybe try to get the prescriptions filled at a hospital pharmacy.
