What incontinence products do you all advise?

Posted by quaddick @quaddick, 5 days ago

I'm scheduled for prostatectomy in 3 weeks and want your opinions on the best products for incontinence during the recovery process. I want to get some supplies ahead of time. Pads vs diapers, best brands, and where to buy advice would be appreciated. Also what sort of pants should I wear during recovery?
Thanks for your tips.

Thank you Jeff. Your input based on your experience was extremely useful and reassuring. I am now using the Lunderg clamp which I got from Amazon. I will get the Weisner clamp and check it out since it could be more comfortable than the one I am using.

Happy Holidays!

@soli
The Wiesner clamp comes with three different size guides. It has the medium size as the default when you get it. You can easily switch to the small or large guide, depending on how thick your penis is.

@soli I know the weisner has various graduated inserts for more or less control.

One additonal item I have used based on the recommendation of my Physical Therapist is a Taylor small kitchen scale. I use it to weigh the diapers before and after use to determine how many mls of urine was collected. This is handy since many doctors and physical therapists want to know how much urine is leaking, not just how many pads you are using.
