What happens after C.Difficile?

Posted by dn22 @dn22, Dec 6, 2018

I got C.diff back in October (early to mid). I had taken clindamycin for BV and it didn't react well for me. I went into the ER for intense pain, bloating, and diarrhea. They found out I had a severe case of colitis, my entire bowel system was extremely inflamed. But they didn't know what type of colitis it was until my 3rd day there. Then they did the colonoscopy, endoscopy, and biopsy. So they treated me with antibiotics. Sent me home with more antibiotics. And after finishing them, and giving it a few days I felt better.

I was still more aware of my bowels, which is saying something since I have IBS already. But other than awareness, and maybe some tenderness in a way, it was normal. Then Thanksgiving came, and I ate what my family made. I had immediate diarrhea and pain. I thought it was the dairy, bc I forgot to start taking my IBS meds again. They had me stop taking them for awhile after being diagnosed with c.diff. Then I tried the food the next day, after taking my IBS meds. Same issues.

So I decided no more thanksgiving food. But the pain, bloating, twisting feeling, and pooping didn't stop. And I would get the urge, but when I went to go, it'd be a lot of gas, that was hard put to come up. When I would poop, the stool itself was very hard, and not a lot would come out.
My mother bought me stool softener. It made the stool less dry and sandpaper-like. But I still wasn't getting any relief.
So last Friday she gave me some of her Super Colon Cleanse (about 3/4-5/8 of a scoop/serving) mixed with Metamucil in a water bottle. And I drunk half the mixture. I still haven't stopped pooping. I'm pooping for hours again, just like with c.diff. No blood this time though. And the stool is pellet like.
I keep waking up to poop, or try to poop. I can't eat anything. Especially not carbs or dairy. I feel like I'm dying, but in a very different way than when I had c.diff.
I don't know what's happening. If I should go to the hospital or not. Or if c.diff has different symptoms the 2nd time around. Or if, because it was such a severe case, that my bowels were damaged somehow. I'm really just not all right, and idk what to do.

I am in the same situation. I’m on my 3rd relapse. I’m at 85 pounds. I’m getting desperate. I’m on my 4th round of different gut meds. I sure hope next week when these finish it doesn’t come back.

I’ve been hospitalized and had at least 2 more crisis that needed to take vicomycn again … I felt I was dying … few times . I’d get better then crisis again. I lost lost lots of lbs then gained it back.

Then did a diet from a top holistic Dr. of no carbs or sugar, milk of rice for 3 months . Got a bit better but didn’t solve anything .

Then gradually added all foods back. I react to some foods sometimes and sometimes not .

Then found out something that got me more stable finally . I started taking probiotic pill Florastor 2 in the morning and 2 at night ( will do it for life) and 2 in mid day when you have a crisis . It made a huge changing my life.

See also the recommended other brands and times frame dose at the end of this video on YouTube ( . ..) from “Kendra Kerry on how to manage C. dificille without antibiotics”.

Just take those for life and you will have more of a normal life.

I have recently started treatment with this new technology devise “ Portable Electromagnetic Pulse Frequency PEMF ( …) from Miramate by Spooky2 makers for something else I have “deep inflammation endometriosis” that seems to have its adhesions on my colon outer wall and it’s helping too. Like a miracle . I am hoping it will also heal my Cdiff by reconstructing the colon lining and neutralizing those bacterial proliferation of cdiff attacks…. Since main stream science still has no clue.

Sending lots of good healing ❤️‍🩹

sounds like me years ago. Then I was diagnosed with IBS by a second opinion GI, put on the Low FODMAP diet, take IBS (Webber) Probiotics as well as the “right fibre 4” which is Monash approved. Check out the Monash university web site for more info. SAVED my life.

@guthealth

I also take Florastor and Align daily (probiotics) and several supplements to help my gut heal. Vitamin D, vitamin A, Zinc, L-glutamine, omega 3, b complex, vitamin c, and quercetin. I put a scoop of collagen peptides in my peppermint tea.

I ran across across your posts here in Mayo Clinic.org concerning C. Diff. I’m wondering how you made out with the structure of foods you were given by your Nutritionist? I was discovered to have C.Diff the first part of August 2023 and don’t have that awful diarrhea anymore but my gut definitely isn’t back to normal and my Dr. Said I didn’t need the special antibiotics made for C diff and told me to just take my probiotic I was already taking?! I think mine was caused by antibiotics due to much dental work.(they all want you to take antibiotics and it’s certain procedures but never again will I take broad spectrum antibiotics like Clindamycin! Thank you for posting all of this information and I’m going to start Florajen that was recommended by my Pharmacist (refrigerated and has 3 different kinds of probiotics in it) hope you recovered
