What brought you joy today?

If you've been living with cancer for a while, you know it's not all gloom and doom. Where did you find joy today? I'll start:

1. Working in my garden.
2. Meeting my daughter for tea.
3. Home-made pizza for dinner.
4. My spouse (always).
5. Some interesting online discussions.
6. Rereading a good novel.

I had decided last July that I would retire the end of the year. Been a little over one week and I'm realizing how really good this is, don't really have any big plans outside of really enjoying how this feels and enjoying spending the whole day with my wife, really enjoying this. Best to all.

I put in my retirement papers yesterday. I LOVE my job but there are other things I want to do. My last day will be in March.

Listening to my music collection of favorites (covers some decades 😊), connecting with an amazing new friend, solving daily word puzzles with my partner, the beauty of nature, and playing the piano.

Welcoming in the New Year with my visiting grandchildren and spending the first week of 2025 with them. Now chronicling the fun times we had in a scrapbook to preserve the memories for them to look back on and remember.

On December 16 last year, I went to the hospital to check my sixth psa and testicular index after radical prostate cancer surgery, and my results were very good. On the afternoon of the 30th, I went to do an enhanced CT of the pelvis, which was also very good. Since my operation on January 7, 2023, the psa index has been 0 four times, which is very good. But unfortunately, my urinary incontinence has not been solved. To put it in pain, the prostate cancer of my body is gone, but the cancer of quality of life is very heavy. Of course, we should also see progress, because when we were discharged from hospital, there was 100% leakage, but now there is 70% ~ 80% leakage. This is more than two years I do Kegel exercises, do pelvic floor muscle exercise received the improvement.

It is Saturday. Saturdays always bring me joy.

And the fact that I am still listening to Christmas music, too!

I stopped going out on New Year’s Eve decades ago because of drunk drivers, but last night I hosted a New Year’s Eve Party with some neighbor ladies in my senior community. We gathered in my festive condo that was highly decorated for Christmas. We chatted, laughed, half-watched the New Year’s music shows, ate yummy snacks including hot cookie sundaes and toasted the new year with sparkling apple cider in champagne flutes. Had a great time and everyone walked safely home within 100 feet without even crossing a street. Yay!

2025 just sounds like a great year, doesn’t it??? Just focus on the blessings and it will be a great year! 😊
