What blood pressure
I'm wondering how high your blood pressure is when it first started to dilate the Aorta ? Does it start at 150, 180, 200 ?
I know my BP was high and I fought it for years, trying natural methods to try and reduce it. When I finally said ok to meds it was probably to late. No one told me that this could be the result. Drs need to tell us the possabilities.

I never had high blood pressure for my dilated Aorta.
I’ve don’t have high blood pressure. They want me on blood pressure medication anyway. I don’t have Marian’s but do have a VUS that could be related. Some research has shown losartan may slow the progression of aneurysms in people with Marfans.
I have never had high blood pressure, I am a lifelong runner. My guess is that mine is genetic, but who knows….

2 ReactionsI think Blood Pressure and Sleep Apnea exasperate thoracic aortic aneurysm, but they are not the cause. The sleep apnea can cause sudden extreme BP during events in addition to other physiological stresses. That is why it is important to mange them.
Thank you for posting rlhix. That's an interesting point to think about. I have severe sleep apnea treated with a CPAP and have lost quite a bit of weight to try and stop the progression that sleep apnea causes. I also have an aortic aneurysm measuring 4.3. I am 68yrs old and have been using a CPAP for almost 20 years. I'm so used to it and can't even think of going to sleep without it. It took me awhile at first to adjust to the masks and all that comes with it and now I'm so used to it I can't imagine sleeping without it. The masks and CPAP itself have greatly improved over the last 20 years. The first one I had was loud and very intrusive along with a mask that that was very uncomfortable. Even though I use CPAP, I'm still having issues with severe apnea (without the CPAP) high B/P. diabetes and now the aortic aneurysm. I'm doing all I can to manage it also.
