Has anyone else suffered weight loss with COPD? I’m down to 91 pounds.

Boost is my go-to. I often forget to eat. A day goes by, and I realize I've only had a bit of cereal and a salad. Preparing meals is a massive effort. Out of breath if I stand too long at a stove. I sit by the stove to cook. I have a fudge ice cream bar every night and try to keep oatmeal cookies around. I have settled in around 99 lbs at 5'2" and 72 years. I have been working hard to exercise. Just marching in place 2 minutes, sit down, get my heart rate down to 100 and then go at it again. The Physical Therapist said this will build endurance and increase muscle tone, which will also help put on weight. I'm really trying everything I can to figure out how to stop losing weight. I grab a Boost when I remember I missed a meal.

@hellopam It does help a bit. 2 of my meds help you lose weight but zi need to take them. Down to 88 lbs from 97lbs. Not liking this.

@eastwestnorthsouth You're doing better than I am! I'm going to try more exercise. Thank you for sharing. I am down to 88lbs, 5'4. 80 yo.

Before I knew I had COPD, I was losing weight but put it down to a new stress in my life. I now have read that breathing with COPD takes extra energy therefore the weight loss.

I too am loosing weight. Here’s what I am trying. I’m going to buy prepared meals at the supermarket the days I go out. On sundays my daughter will help me cook some meals and freeze them. If you don’t have anyone to help you, maybe you could sit and prepare a few meals to freeze.

@coleandoscar I do that and it hasn't helped a bit. Ugh!

Three years ago I lost 15lbs unexpectedly. Since then I have all the required tests to try to identity the issue with no success. I worked with a Nutritionist and I lifer weight three times a week but I cannot put on any weight.

One of my doctors recommended eating cheesecake twice daily and adding heavy cream to soups and other foods. Good luck to you.
