My diabetes was under control when I started Wegovy so when it was prior authorized it was for weight loss and not diabetes. I stopped losing weight so when I wanted to switch medications they would not approve Ozempic or Monjaro.
Hi, @brendaj4 - I'm sorry to hear the semaglutide and the tirzepatide were not approved. I took semaglutide and lost 53 pounds, but the gastrointestinal symptoms were severe. So, my doctor had me off all medications like this for a month, and then I started over with the tirzepatide. I slid backward weight-wise during the transition, and for some reason the tirzepatide did not work to curb my appetite or to lose weight. Now I have reached my insurance coverage cap for these types of medications.
My doctor now wants me to try phentermine plus topiramate. What strategy did you switch to when the weight loss shots were not approved? How's it going?
