Are there any issues swimming in a freshwater lake? It’s clear; doesn’t allow power boats so the water is quite clean. I wonder if it would be wise just to avoid getting my head in the water and risk taking in water?

We talked about lake water. What about salt water. I am going on a family vacation and would like to snorkel with them.

@tinaesims Mac is everywhere in the environment, including the ocean. Although, I don't believe in as high a concentration as ponds, lakes, and hot tubs. If you are not super sick with this infection, I would go for it. But, if you have a very fragile immune system…..where are you planning on snorkling?
We are going to Puerto Rico this year. Snorkling has always been a family outing.
Rits. I had my first dose of Arikayce today. Nurse came and all went well. It seems I will be taking it every day unless I have a reaction. Were you able to go back on the Arikayce again after your breathing problems? I am hoping all goes well, but time will tell. I’ll keep you posted. I will take in the morning and then go to work right after.
Thanks for asking, Sounder. I just posted an update on the original post "Arikayce – nervous to start". I hope that posting there will bring it up to the front.
I've also started the Big 3, but so far so good.
@rits Hi! I am about to start Arikayce. I have it in the fridge and nurse coming Tuesday. I'm very nervous!!
Gaylewroc. I started Arikayce last Wednesday. My voice is now starting to sound like I have laryngitis. The actual usage takes a day or two get used to, but the nurse was great. Her name was Denise. If you have the same nurse tell her Candy said “hi”. Keep us posted as to how you do with the medication. I’ll be posting my progress as well. Best to you.
Good luck, gaylewrok! I posted on the topic Nervous Arikayce because this topic is on MAC in lakes.
@sounder27 I'm glad you're doing so well..it gives me courage! It might be Denise…sounds familiar. My Doc also started me on a trial drug called Clofazimine a few weeks ago..I was nervous and I seem to be tolerating that well. I'm just going to stay positive!! I was wondering if Manuka honey would help with the throat issues..just a spoonful after treatment? Hang in there and keep us posted.
@rits Thanks!! Will keep y'all posted!
@tinaesims The trip to Puerto Rico sounds like fun. You are on good antibiotics, so you should be just fine. I used to love to snorkel in the Caribbean, but I no longer can due to low lung function. I do not have enough lung power to draw the oxygen down the snorkel tube. They now make personal sized flat rafts with a viewing window at the head, I will have to use that, or hang my face with a snorkel mask over the edge of a floatation device. Well have fun girl! When do you leave to go there?
We leave Christmas Eve and get home New Years Eve.
Sounds wonderful. Jealous!
