Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia: What can I expect with chemo?

Posted by mrperezy50 @mrperezy50, Dec 21, 2022

I'm 40yr old male, just been recently diagnosed with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia, I have no symptoms. I'm going to start chemo in a few weeks, what can I expect, does anyone have any experience with this cancer or treatment. Any advice will help.

My IGM is 2250. It's been rising for 2 years since my diagnosis. I had a bone marrow biopsy.
Marginal Zone Lymphoma is rare and slow growing. I've been on wait and see but now my symptoms are horrible. Fatigue, weight loss, shortness of breath. So I start Rituximab tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m so very sorry for all your going through. I hope the treatment helps you. I really appreciate your share as there’s just not much information out there in IGM that I could find. I’ve been super sick fatigue, weightloss, low fevers body aches and so many issues. I thought everything was Gi related and still could be. I had melanoma in 2019 and my entire colon 2023 did great for about 9 months and the last year has been a battle and hunt for answers. Wishing you all the best. Thank you again for sharing. Any information is much appreciated

Hi, what was it when you were first diagnosed? Please don’t feel like you need to answer only if you want to share. I’m trying to get to as much information for my apt. If this might be a possible DX for me. Thank you.

I've got all the same symptoms you have. Hope the treatments help with some of them too.
