vulvodynia pain

Posted by healthybon @healthybon, Dec 3, 2023

does anyone have vulvodynia? I got it a few months ago and no one knows why. it's excruciating pain on the outside part of the vagina. I also have burning mouth syndrome. fibromyalgia and costochondritis. I am at the end of my rope from pain. my life has become small, and all I do is try to get out of pain 24/7. I can take tramadol, but am so afraid of addiction and dependence..
This is all very discouraging and I just can't handle it much longer.

Ok not a cure but it does help a bit. It’s a cream called Emuaidmax. This is the second purchase. I use it faithfully. A bit stinky but rather be stinky then in pain!

I too am tired of all the different pain I get lately.
I get shooting pains in my vaginal area also.
Also in my rectal area, go figure!
I never know where or when it’s coming!
I can be fine one minute, then get a sharp stabbing pain, somewhere in my body.
It can last short time, or hours, even after I take something for it.

I haven’t had pain in the vaginal area, but I have most places. It’s like a cycle. Of course, I think checking out any warning signs is smart. I might check with my primary. It could be any number of things. I get muscle spasms for seemingly no reason.

I seem to have random pain a lot. If I wait, it’ll leave, but a new issue will emerge. My mom has suffered this way for years. I used to criticize her for it. When doctors said there was nothing causing the pain, she’d be infuriated. Even now, she is miserable everyday from ailments that are illusory.

I intend to treat mine and get it under control. Mine appears during times of stress and adversity. I do have some actual documented conditions, such as Type I diabetes. What I’ve been reading about are Functional Disorders. My dad actually has been diagnosed with one. Health anxiety also plays into my situation.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading about pain disorders and have a suspicion that the condition I stated is negatively impacting my life. I’m no expert and can’t speculate what others might have going on, but I will report back here if I have success. My health issues are running my life and affecting the quality.

I am so sorry for all your pain. I have not heard of that one, but FM I've had for 40 years and other diseases I have, I know your feeling. Staying in every day when the weather is wet and cold because increases fibro pain. I know how your world becomes so small and I try hard not to let it be about pain but have no choice because it is constant. I have the same fear of addiction so only take 4 T3 a day. God bless you and help you cope.

@healthybon Hi, Re the Tramadol: I take it for severe widespread arthritis. Before my physician started me on Tramadol, I was taking over 2,000 mg of ibuprofen per day. I’ve since learned that dosage is hard on the kidneys, and now I’m seeing a kidney specialist. There’s been so much brouhaha about scheduled drugs. If a person is abusing their medication, someone should go after them, NOT ME. I’ve had no difficulty with tolerance or dependence on Tramadol. I take it exactly AS DIRECTED. I also take physical therapy, which can help minimize the pain. I read about a clueless government official who said people should just take aspirin if they’re in pain. Take care, and If hope you get the relief you need.

Thanks for your post. I guess if I have to take it, I have to take it. What scares me is that I have something going on with my body that causes this kind of pain and they can't figure out why. I wake up with fear and go to bed with fear. It's a horrible way to live. I'm trying to get help from different drs to pin down the cause, but so far NO LUCK>

I feel the same way. The neurologist said I have anxiety and depression. Other doctor says post covid syndrome and the other neuropathy. I don’t know what to believe,

I’m with you- I never know where and when my next bout of pain is coming from.
One minute I’m fine, the next I’m riddled with pain and electrical type of shocks.
Sometimes it lasts for an hour, or sometimes many hrs.
I can relate to your anguish, and I sometimes just want to stop all of this craziness.
I’m hoping someday I will find a doc who will help me deal with this in a much better way.
As for now, as long as Tramadol helps me cope, I’m on it, and not worrying about addiction.
Being able to handle the pain,is the lesser of two evils as far as I’m concerned.
