Very sore lips
Has anyone found a way to treat very dry, sore lips due to nighttime drooling? I have been applying Tacrolimus 2x day plus frequent applications of vaseline. No relief.

Vanicream Moisturizing Ointment is great for many areas of dry, chapped skin, and it's fantastic for lips.

1 ReactionTopical hydrocortisone ointment OTC 1% is worth a trial. Tacrolimus is often used by dermatologists for oral problems.

1 Reaction@bern7475, Im glad that works for you. 2 opinions from dermatologists advised against any OTC ointments and strongly advised pure petroleum jelly, Vaseline.

1 ReactionYou can’t go wrong with Vaseline. All of the above are petrolatum based
ointments like your Vaseline.

1 Reaction@bern7475 I use Bert’s Bees overnight intensive. It works great!
I keep Biotene Dry Mouth Moisturizing Gel on my bedside table. When I wake up during the night with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth, a small amount in your mouth takes care of the issue. Plus, a small sip of water helps. The lip balm I have found that keeps my lips moist longer is Carmex Classic Lip Balm. I have purchased both at Walgreens and haven't found Carmex at Walmart but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere. However, I have found that Carmex can be "addictive" as I believe it helps by sloughing off the dry skin on your lips, so it makes you feel like you need to reapply. I still use it mostly at night. I also had an Equate Lip Balm that I used up. It didn't stay on as long as Carmex, but it was longer than most others and a good in between. Unfortunately, so far, I have not been able to find it again. I have checked Walmart and Walgreen but no luck so far. Hope this helps.

2 Reactions@shermook Thanks for the suggestions. My dry lips are due to drooling brought on by Parkinson’s. You, too?
@adrienne625
No, fortunately I haven't had that problem (yet?)! I think mine is from the dehydration caused by medications and/or dyskinesia again caused by meds! And sleeping on my back when I should be on my side with a pillow between my knees.
@shermook
…and I always think I wouldn’t drool as much if I could sleep on my back. 😊
