Has anyone been using Tymlos?

Has anyone been using Tymlos? I received devastating news that my bone density score is 4.6, much worse than my age of 72. Recommendation is Tymlos.

Hi and welcome. I just started my second month on Tymlos. I have had no side effects. I was nervous because many people seem to. However, I took the advice (after checking with my doctor) to start with 4 "clicks" for a few days....no side effects so I increased to 6 clicks for a few days.....no side effect........so I increased to the full dose and have had no side effects.

I am wishing you much progress and support on your journey.

Thanks! First week going well. Slight nausea the first day, but no other side effects. I’m doing 8 and so far so good.

@me75 if your bones hurt, maybe think of it as growing pains. That is what my doc suggested. It could be a positive thing!

Nice to see posts from folks who are not having side effects.

@leeosteo thanks for checking in. I am still trying to get my kidney function up. I see my nephrologist next week. She needs to clear me. In the meantime I am staying on Tymlos longer than expected! My endo ordered a 20% dose of Reclast and then after three months I have more. Up to me what dose I get. The first dose is a test dose.
How are you?

windyshores, I'm good. Had a side medical issue with minor outpatient surgery which I had to take care of before starting osteo meds. Finally met with an endocrinologist (waited 8 months to see her) and we have a plan going forward. She is suggesting Foreto, Tymlos or Evenity. I met with McCormick in May and he suggested Forteo so that will probably be the direction I go in.

That's great! (And if Forteo is hard to tolerate, which it very well may not be, there is always Tymlos with the adjustable pen!) Forteo is a great choice.

My doctor explained that my back pain likely indicates that the Tymlos is stimulating my bone marrow

Happy to report my side effects are minimal. Ocasional dizziness at random times which is strange that it happens at different times of day. A little nausea but manageable. Praying this works.

That’s so wonderful to hear you have no bad side effects. I am about to start tymlos and I am a slender woman so I hope I don’t get side effects. Can’t afford to loose any weight.

I had nausea and headaches that lasted 1-3 hours after injecting for the first 6 months I was on Tymlos. Really hated it! But I stuck with it because my osteoporosis is severe and there was no question that I needed strong medical intervention. It has helped increase my bone density, and side effects are infrequent and much shorter-lived now.

Many people who had bad side effects when starting Tymlos either injected every other day, or else adjusted the dose of their daily injection, slowly increasing to the full dose. These strategies didn't work for me. But if you are desperate for help, try to put up with the side effects and see if they wane as the weeks go by. As for weight loss: I too, am very slim, bordering on underweight, but didn't lose further because of the Tymlos. And when my weight drops too low, I resort to milkshakes! 🙂 Also, you can only be on Tymlos for 18 months, so you can always gain weight back if you do lose.

BTW, it seemed to help me to inject after dinner, on a full stomach.
