Tymlos side effects I've encountered

Posted by anniesan @anniesan, Oct 2, 2022

Hi. I started Tymlos in February 2022 and about a month after starting it I began experiencing excruciating muscle spasms, esp in upper thighs and feet, neuropathy, as well as debilitating hip, leg, and back pain. My doctor wanted me to try and stay on it for at least a year, but I absolutely could not go on living with the pain I experienced. I stopped taking the Tymlos completely 6 days ago and all my symptoms have subsided. Has anyone else experienced these side effects while on Tymlos?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m 68-year-old male who was just put on Tymlos. I take my shots in the evening. I started at two clicks and increased to eight clicks over the next three nights. The next morning, I had a pretty bad headache that lasted all day. The same has been true the next three days. I am curious if others have experienced headaches. The side effects don’t indicate that is very common for men but more so for women. As it’s the weekend, I can’t get in touch with my doctor, but I may reduce my dose tonight to see if that helps. Thank you.

jbcat, the endocrinologist I see thinks the effect is from high serum calcium levels (the drug's mechanism) expanding the blood vessels in the head. You might try taking some salt with the injection , a couple of olives, caffeine can help, better not at night though. Both constrict your blood vessels.
You might go back to your lowest comfortable dose for a while or skip one night first. Your body may adjust but I think it's better not to suffer meanwhile.
