Tymlos causing belly fat?

Posted by kaa1 @kaa1, Jun 3, 2024

I’m on Tymlos for about 2 1/2 months now. I’m not usually concerned about my weight. I stay pretty stable. I’ve noticed that my belly seems to be getting fatter. Has anyone experienced this belly fat situation from Tymlos? Is there anything I can do about it? Why is it happening? Thanks for any input.

I don't know your age or how long you and the others here have been in menopause.the reason I mention it is that there is a very common condition among menopausal women called "menopause belly". I have posted some info under the category Menopause. I understand that it may not apply to any of you. S

@gravity3 unfortunately I am 20 years past initial menopause and I was actually more slender than ever in my life, but on Tymlos I have gained 10-11 lbs mostly around waist and belly, so frustrating! It’s not due to menopause in this case anyway.

Hi, a little background my age is 71 and I went through menopause at age 55. Never used HRT. Belly is definitely bigger but I prob could get my weight down if I dieted. Currently 5’6” and 138 lbs. have been buying stretch waistbands to deal with it. Plan with my doctor is two years on Tymlos and then Reclast.

Also, never fractured. Years ago dx with Osteopenia and then Osteoporosis before starting treatment. I do have asthma, have been on an inhaled steroid for years. A couple of courses of oral steroids during illness.

Thanks to this forum and others like it I feel more able to tackle the seemingly never ending attention that Osteoporosis needs. Criminy, it's exhausting.
Hope your next steps work well for you. S
