Triple bypass that went bad within a year
Has anyone? Had a triple bypass that went bad within a year?
I had a triple bypass in June 2025.
One year later, after feeling very weak and fatigued for about two weeks then had heart pain I went to the ER.
It was determined that the triple bypass did not go well.
One of the grass was 100% blocked and the second graft was inoperative.
A stent was placed above the bypass area and was discharged with the comment that they would try to manage with medication.
Two months later, after filling the same was back at ER.
Test showed that all was fine and discharged with the same that will manage with medication.
I’m starting to wonder if I should get a second opinion.
I am visually impaired beyond legally blind, and also have a small lower abdominal dissected aorta with small aneurysm. . I didn’t know where to address the bypass question.

A second opinion would be a good start in my opinion. Is your cardiologist monitoring your condition and progression?

Yes, my cardiologist has been following and addressing the progression of my condition. He is the one that place the first stent and made me aware of my heart and vascular problems.
He’s the one that referred me as a candidate for triple bypass and later made me aware of that triple bypass had failed..
I’ve spoken directly to him and asked questions. What are my options yet? I’m not getting the answers.
I was hoping that maybe someone else has had the same problem in which their bypass had failed within a short period of time it could offer some options or solutions to the problem. If there is any.

You should have got a second opinion a long time ago at a facility that specializes in heart and vascular issues. I had a double by pass on the LAD, ligation of 2 complex fistulas ligated, RCA aneurysm resected and grafted. After all that I had a Bentall Procedure on the root and ascending aorta. The grafts, bioprosthetic valve etc are patent. This was all done on Sep 10, 2026 at Jacksonville in Mayo Clinic. The local cardiology group and hospital and missed a bunch of things including a 100% chronically occluded LAD, and 3 fistulas, 2 of which were complex and vast. Thank god those idiots didn't try anything. I bet you should never have had a stent to begin with. On August 6, 2024, a very good interventional cardiologist and congenital cardiologist did an angiogram with possible intervention to deal with the fistulas. They found it to be very complex and also found the 100% occluded LAD and didn't do the intervention. The did a second catheter procedure that day to collect data for a consult with the surgeon. I met with the surgeon Aug 12, 2024 and open heart surgery was scheduled for Sep 10, 2024. That cardiologist is one of the best, but he knew when to do something and when not to. The surgeon told me I wouldn't need surgery in January.
