Tremors when I speak

Hello @longhorn, and welcome to the Parkinson's support group on Mayo Clinic Connect. Speech difficulties, especially soft speech and often swallowing problems, are common in PD. However, the type of tremor you mention should be evaluated by an otolaryngologist. I recommend that you talk with your neurologist or PCP about a referral to an otolaryngologist. An otolaryngologist is an ENT doctor who specializes in voice problems.

Speech therapists are also highly attuned to the speech problems of patients with PD. Have you been referred for speech therapy or to an otolaryngologist? Either of these referrals would be a good first step in understanding this type of problem.

Parkinson Voice Project offers a program at no cost (in most cases). Their mission is to help people with Parkinsons or related disorders regain and retain their speech and swallowing. Go to their web page at parkinsonvoiceproject.org and find a SLP in your state that offers the SPEAK OUT! program. They help people worldwide. If there is a Research and Development center in your state and you work with them, either in person or online, there will be no charge. I don't know if they can help with tremors when you speak but they certainly can help make your voice stronger and also help with your ability to swallow.

For PD a very respected Doctor here in North Carolina recommends reaching out to Dr. Laurie Mischley at Seattle Integrative Medicine, as she specializes in this field. She also wrote a book called Natural Therapies for Parkinson's Disease. I believe her work goes beyond PD.
Dr. Mischley works via telehealth.
