Trazodone helps my sleep deprivation but may be caused other issues.

Posted by chris20 @chris20, Oct 20, 2023

Trazodone helped my sleep pattern of 3-4 hours per night, improving that to 5 to 6 hours, and sometimes even 7. This has been a relief, but I have noticed a lessening of ability to enjoy things, e.g. poor appetite, loss of sense of humor, agonizing over political matters, reduced interest in activities formerly enjoyed. Increased sense of caregiver burnout is a big thing, after nearly nine years, 24/7. Now I am wondering if I need to wean myself off the Trazodone. I don't take any other mood or anxiety medication due to side effects. I work out about an hour every day, read, do brain exercises daily, and often play gospel music for people in nursing homes, so it's not a matter of being inactive. Any suggestions are welcome.

If I were a conspiracy theory kind of guy, I'd think government wants us older folks dying off, even by suicide. It saves a lot of money for Medicare and SoSec.

Forcing so many people to suffer so much unnecessary pain is inhuman.

It's SO WRONG...

Right....but they should take away the prescriptions for those who abuse them...but not for us people that don't abuse or misuse them!!

Totally agree, but now it is all or nothing - take them away from everyone because some abuse them.

What is the dose of your sleep gummy? I've tried a couple different ones but they don't seem to help that much. I also take 100mg Trazodone and 2.5mg of melatonin at night, which helps me fall asleep. My problem is getting back to sleep in the middle of the night.

So trazodone made me crazy dizzy/groggy the next day. Best dose of melatonin is not more than .5mg. Gummy that helps is 12mg THC, and even cutting that in half is good. That middle of the night wake up is not good! The gummy helps with that. Sleep all night!

Thanks for the suggestions. I did try THC and it gave me some bizarre nightmares. Now I am thinking of getting off all medications for sleep issues and see what happens.

It is suggested to start with microdosing - 2.5 to 5 mg to start. Important to look at dosing and start low but slowly increase. I tried 6.25mg to start but it did not help with sleep. Double that is a winner for me. Some say THC causes a decrease in dreaming, but I dream just fine - good dreams. I agree no meds are best but no sleep is the worst!

Be been helping quite a bit.
If I wake at night, I take another.
If it's before 1 am, I might take a gummy and a Benadryl.
