Transplant News and Events
Hello everyone!
Many events are held each year and many news stories are published that may interest the transplant community. We thought it might be nice to let people know of some of these events and stories, even if they may not apply to everyone. In this discussion, feel free to post events and news stories that might be of interest to transplant patients, caregivers, or donors.
Of note, be sure that your posts don’t violate any of the rules of Connect – you can find those here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/community-guidelines/.
Specifically, please be sure you don’t post commercial postings, advertisements or solicitations.
- Postings such as advertisements for your business, get-rich-quick schemes or solicitations for a charity will be removed. Unfortunately, it is impossible to verify the validity of each and every organization that solicits donations; therefore, to protect you from fraud, we must prohibit solicitations for charities.
What events are you looking forward to?

Good morning. The Florida support group meets every Tuesday @ 11am. There were over 30 people on the call yesterday. I believe the Zoom link has changed. This is the link I use each week:

No one showed up. Note Mayo Phoenix has several active transplant support groups. If anyone wants their zoom info please message me. One is open to everyone but focused primarily on kidney transplantation. It meets Thursday at 7pm Arizona time. Another is only for Mayo patients and is focused on liver transplantation. Both meetings are fairly active. It's too bad the Florida support group is inactive.
@gratefulbob, I just tried to login into the Zoom meeting. The link is working fine, but the meeting host has not started the meeting yet.
You can contact Rachael directly to get connected immediately.
Email: remlinger.rachael@mayo.edu

I will also contact her to correct the information for future meetings. Thanks for the heads up.
I cannot log into the Tuesday online support group. Is it no longer active? It should be removed from the website if it is.
This is a virtual support group for Mayo Clinic patients and their caregivers pre- and post-transplant. This support group occurs every Tuesday at 11:00am to 12:00pm ET on Zoom (find your time zone). The group provides support, education, and perspective or insight into the transplant process, especially recovery and life after transplant. Through facilitated discussion, members help members with their specific questions, needs, and concerns.
It is open to all Mayo Clinic Florida, Arizona and Rochester patients.
A new "mark your calendar" for Mayo Clinic Minnesota transplant patients - the Annual Transplant Patient Picnic will be held on July 28, 2024 in Rochester, MN. If you were transplanted at this location, we look forward to seeing you there this summer!
Hello everyone! I wanted to be sure that everyone was able to read this article about Mayo Clinic's record number of transplants in 2023. This was only possible because of the generosity of 1.986 donors that gave the gift of life in 2023 at Mayo. We are grateful to all of you, all of the caregivers, all of the patients, all of our staff and anyone who touched our department so that we can constantly carry on our mission of giving life to those in need. Hi, I just had my annual celebration of life picnic in April.
I found out a lot about my donor, his family is so kind, we did not meet in person but every April I send them a note to let them know their son Andy is my hero. His mom wrote me back and shared a lot w/me, she also set me some pictures. My heart hurst but is bursting w/ such gratefulness to them most of all her sharing w/me about my donor and what happened. Andy saved 3lives heart,liver,kidney.💚💚. So with that enjoy your picnic.😊😊
This sounds like fun! I live too far away in Kentucky, and so I hope that someone who attends will share a picture here.
My fingers are crossed for nice weather 🤞
Enjoy!!!
