Total Shoulder Replacement so far soooo good
I came to Mayo Connect as I was heading into a TSR (not reverse) and looking for advice or support or at least a report and now five weeks post surgery want to report that I’m better than new. Already nearly total range of motion returned and doing some small strength training in PT. Only question is why did I wait 2 years to do this?😀. Feel free to contact me if you need support or an update as I continue to heal. So far soooo good.

@ddsack total reverse shoulder replacement was a piece of cake. No pain meds required.....it was eazy peezy. My husband had a rotator cuff repair this year and that was 100 times worse.

I had Rev Total Shoulder Replacement done 7 months ago....there was no actual pain... had nerve block that lasted three days....was on a regime of Tylenol and Naprosyn alt every 4 hours around clock for two weeks and ice therapy...no pain...
Now enjoying full motion...still doing weight strengthening...great results... good luck!!!

Thank you for your response. It's so encouraging that you didn't have much pain. Glad you now have full motion and great results. Hope that is my case. I need to ask about the nerve block. Someone else mentioned the nerve block, too. That probably helps the first couple of days after surgery. Thanks again.
@kobesnowy
I will be getting it at home
They will be here starting on December 17
I can let you know then 🤗
@besmith57 they sent me home with a nerve block with a catheter straight into my shoulder which forced me to rest as my arm felt like a tree stump 😀. Four whole days with no sensation. Do it!
@daveyjanes
That sounds like a great idea! How was the pain when the nerve block wore off? I hope my surgeon will do that. Thank you for the recommendation!
@besmith57 Honestly the pain was minimal. When I experienced pain I knew I needed to stop moving around so much. It was a good warning signal but not terribly uncomfortable. I find Meloxicam is easier to use than regular ibuprofen because you only take 1/day vs every 4-6 hrs. Another request for your doc.

1 Reaction@daveyjanes Thank you for another tip. I'm making my list so I don't forget to ask my surgeon for all these great ideas.
Thank you!
Imo, Tylenol is the most ineffective analgesic out there
