Tobacco and heart transplant conditions.

Posted by sammymm2 @sammymm2, Feb 15, 2020

During the years 2018 and 2019 I smoked 4 cigarettes daily, then I totally quit smoking on February 10 2020, can I be accepted for heart transplant? Or, can I be rejected? My first appointment is on February 24 2020, first meeting with the heart transplant doctors and other professional trams.

@sammymm2, I want you to know that I am thinking about you. I hope that you were able to get answers to your questions during your meeting with the doctors in February.
If you have read thru any of the transplant discussions, I think you will see that you are not alone in facing a challenging situation. We are always here for you.
What did the doctors say to you about your smoking and transplant concern?

@sammymm2 congratulations on your smoking cessation, I hope since you smoked so little it was not a factor in you transplant qualification. I smoked two packs a day for years but quit when I got pregnant in 1979 so that was never a factor in qualifying for my liver transplant.

I hope your appointment went well and that you will let us know about it. We are thinking about you and pulling for you.
